quote:

"He is sort of a (Michael) Brockers type player," Pauline said on his podcast. "A good sized athlete who can control gaps and control blockers, but also has neough movement skills to make plays behind the line." LSU defensive linemen have been historically misused in college, but have made a jump in their game in the NFL

Say WHA?

True statement. Most other college teams would use the D-line personnel as wide outs....or, kickers....

thats why weve typically been near the top of FBS in tackles for a loss, sacks, and total defense huh?

hack.

The fact that we're running the same defense, just getting gashed this year means it isnt the system. its the player.

So we have had a ton of great D linemen come through lately. Outside of k Williams and now Brockers, who has been a really good NFL player. It would seem to me the other way as in players like glen Dorsey getting stuck in 3-4. There might be others so don't jump on me if I'm forgetting somebody

Ego's game is much more Bennie Logan and nothing like Brockers' game, imo.

disappointing how many guys we lose to nfl before even getting 1 good year out of them. not blaming our coaching staff.

it's hard to comprehend why nfl ranks a guy so highly if he doesn't play well.

I know it's been common to bash the DTs, but Ego is actually on pace to have more total tackles in a season than any DT we've had under Chavis. problem is he doesn't do much in the way of TFLs or sacks.

he's kind of a more productive Pep (the DT version).

The unintended consequence of a rookie salary cost certainty in the NFL's latest labor agreement is that physical specimen's with potential are now more valuable because they don't cost much and their upside is huge. That hurts a school like LSU who basically fields a team of athletic freaks of nature.

I like that comparison too. I think the Rich man's Pep was Bennie Logan. That's what I think Ego is.

Rotoworlds opinions are pretty dumb most times. If I had to guess, they jumped to that conclusion since Mingo is now an OLB, Dorsey, RJF, and Jackson turned into 3-4 DEs. But in no way does that mean they were misused in college.
