Three games in, the season is going basically as I expected, minus TM7 destroying everyone, and the increased turnovers he would have brought to the table. Here's how I see things shaping up, how have your predictions panned out?

QB - At this stage I predicted Mett to be on par with what Lee was doing last year. My reasoning was that Mett has a MUCH higher upside, but we won't see dominant play until very late in the season as he gets used to playing in the SEC. My remaining prediction is we will see him become a guy with JaMarcus-like skills.

HB - I predicted domination, especially late in games. But, it's really indifferent. The backs we have aren't having to grind defenses down, they are just blowing them up from the get-go. My prediction for the rest of the year from having seen action so far is Hilliard getting more playing time than I expected. Blue's hurt, Ware's hurt.

WR- I predicted big things from Shep, and while he had a good game Saturday, that's what I was thinking we'd see every game, and that's not been the case. Glad to say I was spot on with Landry though, he's been great, hasn't he?

OL- Great depth as expected, and we've needed it as expected. Pass protection is questionable, which I can see getting better once we are healthy, if we are... Run blocking is unreal. It's obvious with the size of our line, they are built to run. Same predictions for the rest of the season, trample the DLine, pass when necc.

DL - I, and many other Tiger fans have had to temper their expectations from XBox360 numbers down to best line in the nation numbers, but I like what I see. I predicted great pass rush and good run defense. Seen the opposite.

LB - Wow. I expected a little from these guys, and they've been quietly doing a very good job. Big miss for me, and I couldn't be happier. I really enjoy watching DeBo play. After someone posted a link to his recruiting tape, I was stoked. Can't wait till he's actually old enough to vote, going to be awesome.

CB - This was an obvious miss for me, because of the release of TM7.I see that already affecting our turnovers, but surprisingly, not the caliber of starters. Both starters at CB have been top notch. Depth is still a concern, but I'm enthusiastic after seeing what our freshman has done.

Safeties - Reid hasn't been as good as I expected, except in run support where he's been a beast. Loston is doing exactly what I thought. But I'm not as worried about depth with Ronald Martin on board. Had a breakout game against the mighty Vandals. And to me, looks like he can back up anyone in the secondary without missing a beat.

Overall I will say this, Lsu looks like a young team. They make lots of mistakes, but I'm hopeful those can get corrected. They are playing like a top 5 team right now, capable of beating anyone, but I'm glad there are still a few weeks left before the Alabama game. They look like the number 1 team right now and look to be in midseason form. But let me say this, when Lsu puts it together like they did at the end of the first half, they are going to steamroll any team I've seen yet. The impression I've gotten from the first three games is that Lsu CAN certainly beat anyone this year, but that the inconsistancies of having such a young team have been glaring.

I think that game @UF is where we will see how good this team truly is. They looked very improved from last weekend on offense and their defense has been very good so far.

Discussion on WR and you make no mention of OBJ, James Wright, and the receiving touchdown leading Kadron Boone?

Did you watch the UW game...pass rush looked pretty damn good in the game in my opinion. Other two QBs did nothing but 3 step drops and release...tough to get a lot of pressure on a QB who is releasing in 2 seconds.

Interested to see what these "lots of mistakes" are...weve turned the ball over 3 times all season and one was on a kick return. No RB fumbles and 2 picks through three games for a guy making his first 3 career starts.

Granted they have made some mistakes but that's not really the phrase I would use to categorize this team through 3 games.

Beckham had all those drops against Washington. Two blown plays in pass coverage against NT leading to two touchdowns, poor tackling on Idaho's one legit touchdown drive. Very very small things but I think the OP's point is we aren't quite the oiled machine that Bama is yet

To which he responded by having a great game against Idaho. Made one hell of an over the shoulder catch on a deep ball.

Yes, this is correct, but UNT was a short week or practice and hectic with the hurricane situation. Not an excuse or anything, but its pretty hard to expect perfection given that situation.

We beat Idaho 63-14, so yes, the defense had one crappy drive, but still, overall a very good game by the defense.

My only point was I don't think this qualifies as making a ton of mistakes. I think this team has looked very good and destroyed its best (using that term loosely) competition in UW.

What about Special Teams?

For special teams, I expected much of the same from last season in the kicking game. When TM7 was cut loose, I expected to see a slight dropoff in the punt returns, and not as many turnovers caused. For the most part I think that holds true. OBJ has done a good job, and has met every expectation of mine in that area, as well as in WR'ing as someone mentioned. The surprising part to me is the kick/punt coverages. I didn't think we'd take a step forward there, but we most certainly have. I think against Florida we'll see just how far they've come because until then, we will have played 3 cupcakes, a cream puff, and one hapless team full of ref paying assholes.

Mett looks way better than anything we have had the last 4 seasons.

Mett averages over 200 yards passing currently. While that isn't typically mind blowing stats I am currently :omg: to see an LSU QB doing it.

I predict we steamroll florid. I don't think they can run against us and ther qb will not beat any quality team. florida had all it could handle with a&m and tenn in first half. both teams wore out in 2nd half. that won't happen to us. we are right exactly where we need to be. don't peak too early because we don't need to based on the competition.

Ehhh...not quite yet. There are still some kinks that need to be worked out but I do agree with you that this team can beat anybody in the country.

I like the pace that the staff is implementing. By the "meat" of the schedule, we'll be ready.
