What do y'all think his chances are of making a NFL team? Guessing a lot will depend on what he can run. I think he'll struggle to break 4.7 electronically, but hopefully I'm wrong on that.

I've never seen a bigger swing from love, hate, and back to love before with an LSU player. I'm trying to figure it out and the only think that makes sense is

1. He's just now getting to 100% after the Acl. Similar to Mathieu it's usually the 2nd year after that you're back.

2. Aranda moved him to more of a in the box role this year and he played way less coverage. Seems to excell in that role. His game against Bama was one of the best I've seen

He is great at playing down hill. Blitzing
Breaking up screens
Run support

Aranda has really put him in a great position to succeed.

His weakness is covering vertical routs. I can't see him making it in the NFL without being able to do that.

Unfortunately I agree, just hoping maybe we're just now starting to see what he could be while healthy. Got to think the bama game may of got someone's attention. It could be argued he was the best player on the field that night.

Possible late round pick 6-7. He's not a speed guy but his instincts and football I.Q. make up for his lack of athleticism. He does a good job of reading, dissecting, and putting himself in a position to make a play. When you lack speed you've got to be able to play smart.

He excels as a Dime guy and on corner blitzes. We saw how he struggled last year when Steele made him a Nickle and put him in one on one situations before he was 100% back from his injury.

Thomas is just the kind of guy I could see Belichek taking and turning into a solid role player and special teams guy.

Has a Ron Brooks-Danny McCray feel. He may have not reached his ceiling yet.

To LSU fans if you're not an elite player you're garbage. You see that judgement on here everyday.

He will get a legitimate opportunity to make someone's roster and it wouldn't surprise me if he did. I agree that he has an unknown ceiling at this point

I think he can definitely be a solid role player in the corner/safety hybrid role. It's a passing league so those type of players have a big role in the secondary.

Thomas will be a solid player in the NFL like a lot of LSU guys before him. Probably a nickel back for some team, the Saints should draft him, but I'm probably wasting my breath.

Special teamer at best. Not a great cover guy. Not elite speed. Makes plays though.

While D Thomas is no Tyrann Mathieu these same things were said about him. Ryan Clark also comes to mind when thinking of guys that were sold short coming out of College. Players continue to change/improve even after college and the improvement DT made this year under Aranda indicates that he can make it in the league if he finds the right system. Most improved player on the defense this year. Wish him well.
