Way to go Duke.

LINK

I think both Beckwith and Godchaux could end up starting also. Combined with Jamal Adams and Tre'davious White that could be 5 total defensive players from last years team starting on their respective NFL teams.

Not to mention Tashawn Bower made the Vikings 53 man roster and Lewis Neal made the Cowboys practice squad.

5 starters from last year's defense are starting as rookies in the NFL.

That is basically unheard of.

Throw in Key, Tolliver, and Lawrence, that's probably 8 NFL starters from last year's defense. 7 of them were starters.

Probably a few others.

Goddamnit. If we just had an offense.

The 2016 Defense was the best LSU D ever in my opinion.(went to Auburn and Fayetteville and every home game. and yes we stayed all 4 quarters of every game. ). This is based on TDs given up. I know we were like 5th for Scoring Defense but we gave up 5 fewer TDs than any other team in the top 20. That stat makes me warm and fuzzy.

I'm a little surprised 5 will start but not completely shocked.

I remember duke from when he was a kid, I mean I know he's still young. But as a kid... football player was the last thing you would have thought would be his career lol. Happy for him and his family.

For real though, the minimum for a practice squad player is $7,200 a week or about $122,000 for a 17 week regular season. That's just the minimum.

I see what you mean - those guys will eventually be starters in the NFL.. However, none of those three would be starting for an NFL team this year had they been draft eligible. Next year maybe, but they weren't good enough last year to warrant that. Lawrence, for example, had a guy starting in front of him that didn't even make an active roster.

Yep. By a lot. That 2011 defense carried an offense that was not as good as the 2016 offense.

I think both Beckwith and Godchaux

Beckwith Knee is scary maybe they won't rush to start a rookie recovering from that. If he does their starting LBs are

Levonte David, Kwon Alexander, Kendall Beckwith. That's a really good LB core

Godchaux, White, and Adams already listed as the starters on ESPN.
