What are your thoughts on hearing Doug yell things like "yessir!" or "get out!" over Chris Blair during the broadcast? I admit at first I thought it was obnoxious and disruptive, but the more I've listened to these two I've found myself loving it.

Some people (not me) complain that Blair isn't enough of a homer and doesn't sound like a "fan" the way Jim did. With Thompson he doesn't have to. Doug more than makes up for it and I love his enthusiasm and shameless fandom especially in big moments in a game.

We have a GREAT broadcast team for baseball, IMO. What do y'all think?

No problem with it at all. It's a local broadcast of a local team they are allowed to be homers.

Chris and Doug beat Hawthorne's negativity any day of the week. I am to the point now to where I sync my DVR to match the radio during the games.

Doug is a swell guy but gat dam he irks me on the broadcast. Sometimes I just want him to stfu so I can hear Blair call the game.

I'm not denying his job is hard and it is easy to criticize. I just still think hannagriff and Blair would actually be the best combo.

Yeah I like Doug in general, but he needs to dial it back when calling with Blair. Awhile back Doug was going on and on about some obscure stats for an entire inning. He was trying to talk over Blair while he was doing the PBP.

And I do get that he's allowed to be a homer, but he kind of bugs me with his "Yes!" stuff at well.

ETA: Why do so many people dislike Blair? I think he's pretty good and has a great radio voice. Short of getting Brockmire to call our games, I think Blair is a good fit.

There is nothing worse to hear on the radio than the color guy grunting and groaning over the play-by-play guy while he is calling the play. Save your enthusiasm for when the play is over. Hokie Gajan, God rest his soul, was bad about this during Saints broadcasts. It just sounds awkward and unprofessional. Otherwise, I loved Hokie and Henderson together. Thompson is fine otherwise, but when they had him doing play-by-play early in the season when Chris was with basketball was an epic failure. Hopefully they find a real play-by-play guy for those situations next year.

The occasional outburst by the color analyst over the play by play guy is okay. Sometimes guys get caught up in the moment. But DT seems to do this every game throughout most of the game. Imagine DT urging for the ball to "get out" over Hawthorne's call of the Warren Morris walk off. Not good.

Not sure where you get that. Only a small percentage complain about Blair.

I like the combination very much. To be a really good play by play guy for baseball, you don't have enough time to be much of a homer. With Blair you have a feel for what's actually happening in a game as opposed to Hawthorne, you had no idea what was going on. As for Thompson, I think the color guy should be a homer on a local broadcast, that should be what he's there for.

Nobody is arguing that....they are just making the point that he shouldn't talk or make noises over the play-by-play guy while he is describing the play.

In baseball the actual play may take 15 seconds, tops. There is almost an endless amount of time between plays for the color guy to do all the homerisms he wants. Let the pbp guy have the play to himself.
