Nevermind. After a little googling, I realize I don't know what I am talking about.

Both are fast, but I think Donte might be the more natural football player.

Jackson's ESPN recruiting profile says he ran 4.69 at last years Opening (I know, ESPN recruiting services= BS). Assuming that time was reported correctly, I'm curious as to how he knocked .45 seconds off of his 40 in just over a year's time. Not saying he didn't actually post a 4.24, I just think that's a huge jump. Glad he plays for us!

A self-aware Ranter? What's the world coming to? You're supposed to just make blanket statements with no support, then stand behind them with fierce conviction, not try to figure out whether what you're saying is actually true. I think that's in the rules.

Donte', like Trindon, can absolutely fly in pads. That's what matters for us brother.

Trindon had Olympics speed with oompa loompa size I think Trindon is faster but Donte has more of an upside for football and he is still young with little training.

Trindon became 10.00 after a couple of years of working on his technique at LSU on the track and field team. Donte is right on par with where Trindon was at this age.

Trindon ran a 10.02 his first year at LSU in the semi-final race at the NCAA championships. he ran a 10.06 in the finals and was the NCAA runner-up. And this was with skipping the indoor season because of football. Trindon was just naturally blessed. His PR was 10.00 in 2009

All coaches run edge plays to the short side. You're showing your ignorance. You fit in well here.

I am not concerned with 40 times here. I haven't see anyone move across the football field with pads on like Donte Jackson. It's absolutely incredible to see.

Trindon as a Senior in HS
100 m state final:
10.43 as a Sr

In the 200: .
21.38 as a Sr.

Jackson 100 m state final:
10.42 as a Jr.
10.30 as a Sr.

200 in state final:
21.42 as a Jr.
21.26 as a Sr.

Seems a lot closer in HS than people think.

EDIT: My bad the numbers from before were Jackson's Jr year.

When you are wrong you are wrong. But it looks like Trindon took a massive leap from his senior year in high school to his freshman year of college.

Holliday ran a 10.02 his SOPHMORE year. In the spring of 2007.

Carter's record of 10.08 stood until may of 2007. His only run in the 100m as a frosh was 11.01.

Holiday ran indoor his frosh year. He hardly did anything in spring track.

quote:

2006
Competed primarily during the indoor campaign in his first season with the Tigers ... Earned a spot in the final heat of the 55 meters at the SEC Indoor Championships after finishing fifth in the prelims with a time of 6.28 ... Clocked a seasonal-best time of 6.74 in the 60 meters at the Tyson Invitational, finishing the meet in 13th place in the collegiate division ... Posted fourth-place finishes at both the UNM Lobo Invitational and LSU Twilight with times of 6.76 and 6.81, respectively ... Only competed in one meet during the outdoor season ... Finished in 24th place in the 100 meters at the SEC Outdoor Championships with a time of 11.01.

ESPN saying Jackoson only ran a 4.69 in the 40 last year is 100 percent horseshite. He can run that time in reverse. You don't run a 10.3 100m and not break into sub 4.5 40 times, just sayin. I'm saying he is a legit 4.3 guy.

I don't know about Donte, but Trindon had terrible track tutelage in HS. He ran that from innate ability. Northeast didn't have great facilities or coaches.

I also saw Trindon run a race in HS in high tops due to a foot injury and he still won by a mile.

Due to stride length, I'm sure Donte could be faster one day, but Trindon was world class Olympic level after college track training. Is Donte going to do that or focus 100% on football?

One thing is for sure, this is a fun thing to talk about. Donte will be the fastest guy on the field on Day 1.

From seeing him in high school...Donte' is going to be lightning in a bottle for us. In the open field nobody's going to touch him
