Why did they want to question Collins the week of the draft?

Why wouldn't they? Solving a murder is way more important than the NFL draft. It's not hard to understand.

It doesn't seem like it made difference in the investigation talking to collins

What about evidence? Where was he at the time of the murder? Any witnesses? Who else did they question? Looks like the Keystone Cops to me!!

Murder occurred last Friday night.

They wanted to talk to him on Saturday.

He blew them off. Went to Chicago instead of meeting with them and putting this behind him.

When there is a midweek on the streets, a murder investigation should take priority over anything else. Even the nfl draft. Dude should have called his lawyer, went in on Sunday or Monday and put this behind him.

Police did their job.

Someone that looks like had nothing to do with the crime was vital to their investigation?

Investigating the double homicide immediately after it occurred was pretty insensitive. They should definitely postpone murder investigations when money is on the line. Fortunately Collins put the BRPD in their place by waiting until after the draft.

I hope he sues.

The hot shot detective should have contacted his lawyer/agent and not gone public. It's not like he was going to leave the country.

" Dude should have called his lawyer, went in on Sunday or Monday and put this behind him. "

No, the investigators knew who his attorney/agent was/is. They could have easily contacted him.

Pretty sure that is exactly what happened.

Where was the sense of urgency on brpd when he came back to be questioned and then they postponed the questioning till after the draft? He should have went immediately but if brpd could wait then why even make it public before the draft?

I think it is fair for the police to assume that his sports agent does not represent him in criminal matters. His sports agent may not even be an attorney, let alone an attorney licensed in Louisiana. That said, I believe they did contact his sports agent first, anyway, simply because that was the fastest way to get in contact with him.

Its an opportunity for free publicity for BRPD. They are never one to miss that.

How is it BRPD's fault if LC isn't smart enough to understand his priority should have been to get himself ruled out as a suspect?

I blame Collin' representation. If he would have just met on Day 1 not Day 9, he could have been cleared prior to the draft.

If anything positive that he can take away, barring he's cleared, can remain healthy and plays well , LC can choose the team to play for, make a decent salary for 3 seasons and collect a nice contract two years ahead of guys taken in 1st round.

I've heard that they attempted to contact him that Saturday, but not that they wanted to interview him that day. for all we know, they would've said "let's meet the Monday after the draft," since they weren't able to meet with him till then even after he flew back into town on Wednesday.

you might think that i'm just parsing words, here, but the connotation really makes a difference..

I'm generally a BRPD apologist, but they fricked this up big time. they were under zero obligation to confirm that they were trying to meet with him. the result: he lost millions upon millions in revenue and distracted everyone's attention to the only substantive issue (solving the murder of Brittney Mills). If I was LC, I would try to take everyone down a notch after the case is resolved and if he had absolutely nothing to do with it.

I can assure you if I'm mentioned as a potential person of interest in a murder investigation the week of my most important day of my life thus far, I'm shouting from the deepest crevices of earth that I had nothing to do with it, I'm hauling arse back to meet with the authorities to show my innocence, I'm taking a voluntary polygrpaph test to show all teams that I care about my future, etc.

That 90 minute meeting with the BRPD yesterday may prove to be the most expensive hour and a half ever. Collins' silence still doesn't make sense to me for some reason.
