Does the Contract allow for O to be demoted and still paid?

Rather than throw away $12 million [or $9 or $6 with ongoing carnage amounting], what latitude does LSU have in demoting O back to DL Coach / Recruiting Coordinator at $3.5 million per year while bringing in a guy like Scott Frost from Central Florida, Chad Morris or even Frank Wilson?
Work the new HC contract in a way where Frost, etc. can transition in his "team" of coordinators and coaches over time unless a wholesale change is needed, say, at OC to fit his philosophy.

It is an iron clad, fully garunteed contract. O is going to be here through next year, regardless of schedule. Alleva can be fired though.

First of all, the contract his for O to be head coach.
Second of all, you want a demoted, humiliated, bitter cutthroat coach to oversee recruiting? Are you insane? O would sabotage recruiting. O is not the kind of guy you want to humiliate and then have around. He is ruthless.

What coach worth having would want to be forced to have the guy they're replacing on their staff (and likely being paid more than himself)?

Unless they pay 8-9 M by firing him somewhere between Nov and Jan. This has been covered elsewhere.
