Game winning hit last night, but can he overcome his defensive struggles? I think at this point CPM needs to make a decision and stick with it.

One benefit of having Romero on the bench is he gives you a PH option late in games.

It seems to me like Pap is a little more comfortable from the left side, but he is still a huge drop off from Romero (before Romero started slumping)

What would you do?

Romero will start only because pap was catching for 13 innings. Dude needs the day off

I think you stick with Pap until you need offense, period.

Good chance just to give pap a rest actually...

I think it's pretty crazy how each of them seem more comfortable doing the opposite.

Pap looks so natural with the gear on, and very uncomfortable at the plate.

Romero looks like a batter, but seems like he isn't as alert behind the plate.

I'm going with Romero for the rest for Pap. Maybe Pap comes in late if balls are getting past him, etc.

Let Poche bat, Papierski catch, and Romero DH for Pap

From what Romero said in his post game interview.

Papierski told Romero before the pinch hit that he could barely stand anymore and that it was Romero's game to win.

Papierski needs a break.

Let's win this game and take the day off tomorrow.

Pap isn't catching today. Floridas catcher didn't either

Yes I would be surprised if Romero didn't start for all the reasons above!

No you don't need to pick one and stick with it. The best part of having two quality catchers is to be able to switch them out and have them fresh.

If it were me and you are facing a top notch pitcher and Lange or Poche facing a lesser lineup and you know runs will be at a premium I want the defensive guy in there to control the running game and not let them steal a run or two and rely on the rest of your lineup to scratch a couple across but if it is a game where you think you might need 8-10 runs to win you put in the offensive guy.

Tonight is different because Pap needs the rest and you have to start Romero.

Didn't he catch all but the last inning?

That's a long time. He needs to rest. A win tonight would be huge for our guys to get rest.

Seems the stage may have been a bit large for Romero the first night. I think the game winning hit last night will calm the nerves for him.

People are over reacting with Romero. Up until a few days ago, he was damn near identical to Pap defensively. He had a rough few games, but people are trying to make that seem like the norm...

Yep you ALWAYS ALWAYS want two quality catchers on a team at once. They will both get some play time and the starter will always need rest. The backup catcher is a very under rated position in baseball.

Romero was never as good as Pap defensively he just closed the gap enough to where his offense was good enough to make up for what you lose defensively. When his offense started to struggle and he let the bat go into the field and his defense regressed then that opens the door for Pap again.

Nah, Papierski is way better defensively. Except for his double clutch last night, there were no issues behind the plate at all. I haven't seen that from Romero in a while.

Nah. Up until the UF series, they were about the same. The perception was just too hard for some to overcome though
