Yes. His short passes are not nearly as good as his long ball for some reason. Average deviation on passes of 30 yrds or more is only 2 inches. But when he throws the short passes they can diveate from target by as much as 3 inches.

No. That is a bunch of bull hockey!

I think this all comes from one dumbass who wrote about it at the Manning passing academy. As with all internet stories, it is now being passed around as the truth.

He doesn't really have trouble with them, just not the best part of his game.

It's like how people say TM7 isn't good in coverage. Yes he is, just not quite as good as he is in some other areas.

Well, by definition, something HAS to be the worst part of his game. So why not this?

But I'll wait until I see him before I worry.

If thats all he has trouble with, then we will be fine. Beckham and landry will make sure to actually reach for the ball.

To play debbie downer:
With his limited mobility, weakness at short passes could spell doom if he fails to hit his hot routes on the blitz.

The only time I've seen him was the northwestern state game last year, and I remember him throwing a couple of the wide receiver screens and they were all really good looking balls. Tight spirals and thrown where the receiver could catch them in stride and head up field. I know that's not a lot to go by, but from what little I've seen he looks fine on those throws.

I hear Mett can only run the option.

On the limited times we've seen him play in both live action and the 2 spring games, I've never once made the personal observation that he looked bad throwing a short to intermediate pass.

As a matter of fact, the very first pass any LSU fan has ever seen him throw in an LSU uniform was an intermediate "thread the needle between lbs" type pass that was completed in the 2011 spring game.

I've always thought just the opposite. From every single screen I've seen Mett throw, he actually knows how to throw a screen better than Lee or Jefferson did.
