At most the SEC will finish with 3 teams that have less than 4 losses: Alabama, Florida, and Tennessee. This scenario involves Tennessee winning tonight and Florida winning either tonight or in the championship game against Bama.

Alabama will finish first in the SEC.

Florida has two losses. They are currently losing to Florida State and are expected to lose to Bama in the SEC Championship, presumably putting them at four losses.

Tennessee has three losses and is currently leading Vanderbilt 31-24 in the 3rd. If they lose they also will have four losses.

If Florida and Tennessee lose tonight then there will be five SEC teams tied for 2nd place in the conference with 4 losses each. In a situation like this one, what chance does LSU have to get the Sugar bowl bid?

I think its safe to assume that Florida loses to Bama. Also, I don't see them beating FSU tonight.

The Tennessee game will decide whether or not there is a 5 way tie for 2nd place in the conference.

You forgot Texas A&M. Who beat Auburn and lost to LSU, thus forcing a tiebreaker.

Edit: Also, I don't know for certain how tiebreakers factor into the selection process, but I think it is based off of ranking.

There is no "second place" and certainly no tiebreakers involved. If the SEC Champ goes to the playoff, the Sugar Bowl takes the next highest ranked team in the final CFP rankings. That's it. No bids, no selection process. Had LSU beat UF, and everything else since happened exactly the same, that would be us. However, now it's not

This guy's got it right. Highest ranked team goes. We'll finish behind Auburn & Tennessee if they beat Vandy.

I think in the event of every sec team behind bama having 4 losses or more, i think playoff committee would put LSU as the highest rank 4 loss sec team. The playoff committee doesn't have to rank auburn ahead of LSU just because of the head to head loss from September in their final rankings on December 4th. Also I know prior to the florida loss, Auburn was ranked one spot higher than LSU at 15.
