I'm a Jones fan, but yes you have to fire him for not making the tourney this year. This squad has the consensus #1 player in the nation, two other top 50 prospects, and multiple guys who can hold their own at this level (Hornsby, Patterson, Gray, Quarterman).
If he can't reach the tournament with this roster at his disposal, I doubt he will ever accomplish anything here.
Don't hold your breath on his firing though. He has a long leash. He's "one of the boys". If you thought politics around LSU football was bad, the politics involved within LSU basketball run circles around it.

Too bad Daddy Dale, Collis Temple and Rudy Macklin will bitch to high heaven about it.
Knowing that Alleva has nothing between the legs, Jones will be allowed to stay on.

There's something seriously mentally wrong with this team right now. They're playing timid and scared. Missing wide open shots left and right. Blowing easy lay ups. Free throws are beyond horrible. Mishandling the ball in no pressure situations. It's like they're all waiting on someone to do something, and when that doesn't happen they panic. This is beyond coaching, though it's to blame too.
