Don't know where you are located, but at this late date, you may need to drive somewhere besides BR, LFT, or MSY to find an available cheaper seat. Houston is probably not a good option either. You need to get outside of LSU territory, I would think, to think about decent prices.
At this point, two people, I'd drive. You'll come out way ahead. Hopefully, your son can drive and split time behind the wheel.

Log into southwest, fly Thursday into Chicago or Milwaukee and rent a car for $20 a day fly back on Tuesday. Log in and check available times/days. Looks like some fairly reasonable rates. Rental cars are dirt cheap.
