Tom Herman is the hottest young coach in the country. Do you think if Texas or some other big program comes calling or if Houston gets a Big 12 offer, we have the leadership at AD/Chancellor level to bring him to Baton Rouge?

I do not think so. It took an Emmert to hire a Saban. I do not think this Chancellor/President or AD provides that kind of leadership. The odds are we will get a middle of the road 9-3 type coach.

If Miles does not go 5-7 (as I think he will) and can pull out another 10-3 win season, I think we will not get an upgrade.

Even if he goes 5-7, all we will do better than him will be a 9-3 guy.

No, because we can't even seem to grasp the $5 million bonus that UH has committed to pay Tom if the program is accepted into the Big 12.

We'll find out. I actually still have faith in Alleva. This isn't popular around here, but he had a plan to get his guy that was put into motion with the contract situation that Chavis ultimately left for. It was being executed until political pressure did him in. The only thing he may be culpable for is not handling the PR aspect of it.

eta. My greatest concern is that the timing is not there this year. Last year, the timing of everything could not have been more perfect. Surely in terms of the cupboard being stocked for the next coach, as well as two + months to smooth out the recruiting class, but more so the position where FSU was. They weren't on the way to the playoff. Timing is EVERYTHING in these things; see e.g., Saban/Miami/Alabama, Harbaugh/San Fran/Michigan. Houston and FSU are playoff contenders. A coach will not leave his team in the throes of a championship run.

I agree. Keep F King and Joe Alleva as far away from this as possible. Maybe TAF could bring in a "headhunter" firm to find the right coach. I would not even trust F King/Alleva to hire a "headhunter" firm. Just a thought.

Well considering Texas beat a top 10 team to start the season it would be silly to assume Strong would be fired at end of the season especially with his team trending up. And Houston isn't getting into the Big 12 so we can stop saying that. They bring zero to the table for the conference.

That's the saddest thing of all. I have very little faith in the leadership to make big boy calls.

In his contract, he will receive a $5mil one-time bonus IF Houston is admitted to the Big 12. He's not going anywhere.

Well LSU has a great track record of making smooth, sound decisions, so yes.
