Coach O's record and reputation doesn't exactly inspire confidence in LSU's ability to win the National Chamionship, which should always be the goal now that we have obtained elite status.

Do you feel like LSU will be able to get over the hump with Coach O?

I feel like we will be mediocre for 4 years and then have to let him go.

LSU really looks foolish in the wake of this firing Les debacle. He will go on to coach at another major program and we are stuck with an assistant who may not be deserving of the program.

Do you think Coach O is the best hire? It's no secret he was the backup plan, but Aleva couldn't pull through for us (we look so foolish in that respect, too)

In all fairness, I didn't think Les looked like a championship coach either

+1

Will recruit enough to make us competitive but we won't get better as a program

No way. We basically signed up for 8-9 win seasons. The admins are basically satisfied with being ok but not great

There's no reason that O can't be successful here

Absolutely not...anyone who thinks he is the detailed oriented, offensive or defensive guru who can will a program into prominence is fooling themselves - they are riding emotion instead of using logic. However, if Herman did want to use LSU as a bargaining tool to squeeze more out of UT, then I think Alleva made the right decision - where he went wrong (Alleva): running the search himself and not hiring a committee...

Of course not. Terrible hire.

He will never even win 10 games here. Next year will be 7-5 regular season.

May as well throw money directly into the trash. Search committees are worthless

We will continue to beat the teams we normally beat, go .500 with the UGAs, UFs, and Auburns, and lose every year to Bama. He is a better recruiting version of DiNardo. If the coordinators leave and the hires aren't right, the bottom falls out.

National Championship-

SEC Championship-

SEC West Title-

A head coach needs to be an organizer in a facilitator. I don't know why you people think the head coach needs to be a mastermind on one side of the ball or the other.

Remember our last coach Les Miles? He kept trying to put his hands in the offensive cookie jar and ruined every offensive coordinator we had

I would much rather a stud offensive and defensive coordinator and let them do their job. That is exactly what we are going to get and it's exactly what this program finally needs.

Could a committee have did any worse than Alleva? He had 3 months to land a top tier coach to stabilize our program, but ended up settling on coach O...look at Alleva's other hires within our athletic program...do you really think he has a "nack" for hiring hiding or obvious talent?

Not one coach that has won an NC outside of Les has been a CEO type coach.

Saban - Defensive Guru
Meyer - Offensive Guru
Jimbo - Offensive Guru
Chizik - Defensive coach
Mack - Offensive Guru in his day
Pete Carroll - Defensive Guru

So in the last 15 years or so, no CEO type outside of Les has won an NC and he had to back into that one with two losses.

O will never win an SEC title, let alone a national championship at LSU.

That is a broad and very loose question. The short answer is yes, at LSU. We get some of the best recruits available. The 43 in the NFL shows that. We lost to Bama because we just didnt have an elite QB. Etling is hardworking with a tremendous heart but is a game manager.

Coach O will be able to get a great QB and hire someone to develop him.

Everyone agrees the play calling and lack of qb development got les fired. I dont expect that with coach o
