Do we approach this game similarly to the way we handled A&M the last 2 years?

Pull out a LB and add in another DB; running a nickel defense with a spy on Prescott?

Who would get the call as the nickel back?

Thomas? Adams?

Love those two. Either one. OK Adams.

I think we need to leave more LBs in. They have Big running QB and a running RB.

I am much more afraid of them running than passing.

If you have White on Lewis I think that takes away MSU's best recieving threat. Lewis is legit, but White matches up well with him. Other than that I say focus on shutting down their running game.

I think our LBs have the size and speed to handle him. But I definitely think we see the Mustang package.

I just started watching the 2nd half of last year's game: we pulled out a LB and put in an extra DB after MSU got the FG.

I believe Alexander and Barrow were the two LBs in.

Thomas was the extra DB.

I just remember Lewis being a nightmare last year. None of the other WRs made much of an impression, but I haven't kept up with MSU since then.

More to the original question: I honestly think MSU and TAMU are pretty different teams to prepare against. Prescott is a really talented kid that presents a different challenge from Johnny or Kenny and TAMU's passing oriented attack. MSU is more of an Auburn/Florida-07 team where you really have to sell out on the run whereas TAMU is the Oregon of Texas and requires that you keep contain and make their skill guys on the edge earn it every play. LSU has shown they can more than match up with the approach of both, though. I think you keep bigger bodies in against MSU and leave the DBs on an island, whereas you go zone-spy combo with TAMU and make them dink-dunk down the field against a very athletic back 7.

Nice post, inthebr! I think you got it dead right. Agains JFF it was all contain. Against Kenny Hill it will be important to apply quick pressure. The big guys will have to get their hands up, too. And, like you said, make them dink and dunk with no yac.

Against State, we should start out heavy and go Mustang when they get behind on down and distance. We should mix in a lot of man to give us numbers in the box. I like LSU's matchups in this game. I have to admit I'm relieved it's in Tiger Stadium.

You're right, he might be better.
