Do Tiger fans realize just how good Ben Simmons is?
Posted by ULSU on 6/20/14 at 8:39 pm70
I know I didn't until I recently started checking him out. I just thought he was a Top 20 prospect (which would be awesome), but the more I researched I realized this kid looks like a once in a decade type player. 6'9" with handles and a shot, but can post as well. Looks very polished and many think he should be the #1 overall prospect. I am excited to see our front line next year. We will be a long team for sure.

He's really good
Randolph was widely considered a Top 15 recruit and was the highest rated recruit we've probably gotten in 10 years. That said, no he wasn't a borderline #1 overall like Simmons is. I can't wait to see this kid.

I live next to his school and have seen him play a couple of times. He looks pretty good. Both times his team was crushing people and he appeared to be just kind of coasting. Not lazy, but like this is easy.
His "high school" team is one of those Oak Hill types.

Randolph was a physical talent, of that there's no disputing. But he played when he wanted to and that has continued in his NBA career.
I've seen Simmons play 3 times on ESPN and he's got the physical talent Randolph did plus a little bit more and I think this kid wants to be great and will show that all the time no just when he feels like it.
I'm so excited about getting Simmons here I can't wait. And with Musselman coming on board to help it even ups the ante.
This kid is the real deal. You really only have to see him once to realize it.
I've got my issues with CJJ, but I want him badly to succeed here and pulling a kid like this can make up for alot.
And getting Musselman too.....Geaux Johnny!!

Hopefully Silver will hurry and change the college rule to 2 years. Hurry!!
he can't do that till the next CBA so you can forget about simmons staying two years
Hes amazing. Has everything you want in a player. Size and strength to battle down low and rebound, and enough skill to beat you on the perimeter. And he is silky smooth. Effortless on the court.
He gets compared to Tracy McGrady for a reason.

You have no idea what you're talking about.

Anybody who is a basketball should fully understand his abilities. His skill sets make Shaq pale in comparison. Simmons could play all 5 positions, obviously some better than others. Shaq at guard ? I am afraid his age may qualify him for one and done. God forbid he stays for 2 years. Could be lottery pick after one year.
He is so vitally important to the LSU program as a whole. He is the type of player that people pack the pmac just to watch play. He may be key to getting basketball support back to how it used to be.

I'm containing my excitement. I just want to see LSU basketball consistently win.
Last season was a disappointment. And with Hickey leaving, I'm not really sure to think about this year.

Yes, been following him for a couple of years now. He can play basketball very well.

It was, and I think to rationalize it as anything else is burying one's head in the sand.
However, let me give CJJ credit. He went out and upgraded the coaching staff considerably, at least insofar as bench coaching IMHO.
And talent can overcome alot and this kid may be the best talent we've inked since Shaq.
I'm liking the possiblilities.
