I was at LSU as a student during the Saban years, and one of my management course instructors was a Martial arts instructor. He told us in DEC 2003 that he had a VERY good feeling that LSU would beat OU.

Here's the thing: Saban made the LSU football team take martial arts classes from him. I think it disciplined the squad.

I like miles, and I love LSU, but I think that this could be a big difference between miles and saban. I think saban might actually employ some unconventional strategies off the field that make the difference between LSU and bama.

What could LSU/miles do differently in this respect?

That class was super easy.

Les had the D practicing against 2 offenses all offseason before Oregon. That was pretty darn smart, but not discipline related.

I took that class too, but what this team needs is senior leadership that 03 was full of. I'm not at practice and/or in the locker room so I can't answer for sure, but it looks like there's not a mature leader at every position. You can't force leadership.

leadership
Always translates to a disciplined team. It has more to do with this than a yellow belt.

Good point on the leadership. I think Mett was this teams leader, but I think it was sorely lacking on defense.

I was in that same class, and I think back to that often. Would be great if we could get him working with the team again.

This team would benefit more from taking ballet.

Saban does many things Miles doesn't do.... Discipline is primary but Saban runs his programs life an NFL franchise using all of the new cutting edge programs introduced to Belichick, etc.... Miles is just an average college coach with no imagination. Decent recruiter, but horrible coach .... He's had his moments but his time at LSU is almost over...

We did that under miles also. I remember seeing Tyson Jackson pulling out some moves and couldn't believe he could kick his leg so high being that big.

Oh and 2003 we were one of the most penalized teams in the NCAA. This whole his players are disciplined didn't happen until he was at bama. Guess people forget about Claude wroten getting busted with a bunch of weed.

Early in the Miles era, LSU had both karate and yoga/pilates programs for the football team. But the NCAA decided it was some type of violation and it had to be dropped. Maybe somebody else remembers the details.

Of course, the Miles haters don't want to let the facts get in the way of their narrative.

Sauley ruled! Lowest grade must've been a B.
