Tulane fans despise LSU. I hate Tulane for personal reasons. But I think most LSU fans could give a rats arse about Tulane.

Both of these.

It's nothing like it used be, back when life happened in black and white...

I didn't really grow up in an age when this was a real rivalry so I've never really had any hatred for them, just another in state team we pay to show up and take a beating in Tiger Stadium.

My lawyer is a Tulane grad. We're about the same age but I think the bulk of the rivalry died with our generation (40+). Tulane has been so insignificant for so long, LSU considering them a rivalry would be demeaning to the programs.

I don't really hate any of the smaller state schools, I think its more likely just a case of them creating some rivalry that doesn't really exist because of their little dog syndrome.

I would go further than 40+ and say 60+ as far as the rivalry is concerned, I had an uncle who was about the biggest Tulane streetcar alum you ever have seen and i doubt if he finished elementary school!!!!! He would be in his 90's if he were still alive, so that should give you some indication.....

ok i'm still from the time when there was much bitterness between the two schools. although tulane had not beaten LSU in 25 yrs as of 1973, they were still our bitter rival. in the '72 game the tigers sqeaked out a 9-3 victory in N.O. over the wave. tulane was stopped on the last play of the game inside the tiger 3. In '73 they beat us 14-0, again in N.O. From 79 to 83 they wore us out. The 81 game we were pounded in the dome 48-7. The rivalery ended sometime in the mid 80's once Arnsparger arrived here. it's never been the same for tiger fans as far as them being rivals. although it still is for tulane.

Note that I suppose its because when the 2 play in football they have everything to gain and nothing to lose.

I do. I still wish we played them in football every year. My soph yr was the 48-7 nightmare and then the next year was the humilating loss during the 'Orange Bowl' year.
