I have dish and ABC is working fine for me. You're saying they are going to specifically blackout the LSU game?

Only those with Dish in the New Orleans DMA(Designated Market Area)

That ABC station is owned by Tribune which has pulled their channels off of Dish, and they have been for over a month.

HD antennas are like $50.
Buy one just in case it's not resolved.
Return it after game.
Profit.

Remember...antennas will not work well in rural areas...not everyone lives in a city !

This type of crap right here is why I HATE satellite tv.

When we had dish we were losing channels every week, and it's not like they cut down on my bill when I lost them as well.

Some people are optimistic that it will be renewed by Saturday. Sucks, satellite has got us by the balls. Thanks for all the help. I will go to Best Buy and buy whatever they tell me to.

I don't know why people are down voting you. I've used this method many times when I didn't have an actual antenna laying around. It's easier if you strip the other end of the coax cable so you have bare copper that you can bend into a circle to hang on the wall with a push pin or attach to a switch plate screw.

Call Dish and tell them you have relocated your satellite receiver to your "camp" that just so happens to be in an area where ABC locals work. Be sure to know your new zip code.

Keep billing address the same.

No "installation" is needed as you were able to configure dish and setup on your own.

Problem solved.

This. "HD" antennas are a ripoff unless it is a "powered" antenna. Regular $10 rabbit ears from radio shack will provide HD quality. Powered antennas just give you slightly greater range if you live far from the city.

Thanks. All I know is that it saved me when Cox cable had the FOX blackout in similar fashion.. I didn't have an "antenna" on hand.. but I had a coax cable to use.. and I was able to get local Fox OTA with no blackout.

Just trying to provide an alternative to try before the need to purchase anything is all..

But it's all good. Hope everyone gets to see the game.
