Yes, Loser bracket face elimination. More likely to lose 2nd one once you already lost one.

They showed that several times throughout the game. Staggering

Two teams play in the first game - one wins and one loses. The same with the losers bracket game. Same odds.

Against this level of competition not many teams have the pitching depth to win an extra game.

If you win the first 3, you're in. Coming from the losers bracket, you have to play 5. That's huge! We need to keep winning, OSU is a critical game to save pitching.

How about in the last 36 years 111 teams have won their first game but not won the CWS?

And in those same 36 years, of the 144 teams that have lost their first game only 3 come back to win the CWS.

Champions after winning first (33 of 144): 22.9%
Champions after losing first (3 of 144): 2.1%

I know which odds I prefer.

Who were the 3 teams? I know Coastal Carolina, I am pretty sure South Carolina, but have no clue for the 3rd.

I saw another stat that teams that lose 2 games have never won the CWS. Staggering.

Coastal's not one of them. They actually won their first game, but lost to TCU in the second game to fall into the loser's bracket. South Carolina 2010 is one, but I don't know the others, I'd have to look it up.
