Did Auburn contact LSU prior to pursuing Steele?

Les Miles stated that Kevin Steele told him after the Texas Bowl that he was leaving for Auburn. It was not clear whether he was aware that Auburn had initiated pursuit of Steele. It is very likely contact with Steele was initiated prior to LSU's game. It would be a breach of etiquette on the part of Auburn to not at least notify LSU and seek permission to speak with Steele about the opening.

On the flip side, Miles noted they waited until after Wisconsin's bowl game to speak with Dave Aranda.

May be some missing parts tot he story, but may be a reflection of class and respect on Miles' part versus other coaches and schools.

If they didn't, they must also hire Peveto to coach special teams.

We don't care. We got $500,000 and a better DC out of the deal.

If you want to compare class

Aranda called all of his players and thanked them.

Beckwith said he hadn't talked to Chavis since he left the week before the A&M game.

Awe damnit! They didn't follow etiquette protocol. The whole deal is off. Steele is back as our DC and Aranda is going back to Wisky.

Come on man, it's college football. There is no etiquette. A team would take Saban away the day before the national championship if they could.

If Les told him to look around then it would negate that

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. We got better, and a division rival got a poor coordinator.

I don't think he's complaining that we got the raw end of the deal in this particular situation but it obviously shows if they'd do it now then they'll do it again. But I also expect this from auburn.

Even if they did, Steele handled it like a pro and continued to coach through bowl game, unlike Chavis.
