Desean Smith could be a huge difference maker in his first year...

Cameron has always loved using TEs in his offense. Smith will give LSU a stretch the field passing threat down the middle of the field. Best receiving TE threat since Robert Royal. His presents will force teams to move their safety back to 15 yards instead of 10 yards from the LOS. Teams have had more success stopping the running game because we never worked the deep middle of the field. Look at how UF's Matt Elam was able to be so disruptive versus the running game last season.

Been saying this for awhile
Dude is an absolute animal. Will be an instant impact freshman

He arguably had the best hands in the country last year. Among both TE's and WR's

With what Dillion Gordon showed throughout Spring Ball, and the apparent emergence of Travis Dickson in Cam's Offense, it will be a fight for snaps, but, if he does see the field, I agree, he could be a huge X-Factor with his athleticism and incredible hands.

They were alright, better than expected in Spring but they didnt really impress me. If Smith is as legit as they say then he should have no problem getting on the field on atleast 3rd down situations unless the coaches dont feel his blocking is where it needs to be to see the field

I believe Smith has more speed than the current TEs on the roster. Our biggest problem last year had to be defenses stacking the box. If we have some one who gets down the field quickly and LSU can hits some pass plays for big gains, safeties will have to start think pass first versus LSU. Some of our opponents love to run cover two. The best way to be it is to hit some passes behind the middle linebacker and between the safeties.

This is what I'm saying. If his blocking isn't on par with the other 2 guys, then it's not a given he will be the feature TE...thus if he is only on the field for 3rd down, then he will have to earn those snaps.
I'm not saying he won't get meaningful smaps and contribute, it's just that Dickson is the Veteran, and someone who Cameron sees significant potential in, and Dillion Gordon has a year under his belt and tremendous size, which bodes well for his blocking potential, and who showed a significant gain in pass catching potential this spring.

He is really thin for a SEC TE at this time. Needs a couple years in the weight room before becoming regular at TE. Could be put in for special packages or used as a big WR like Colston for the saints. About the same size as Colston. Gordon and STokes as regular everydown TE's with Dickson in passing packages. Would like to see Smith get a red shirt year.

Hopefully his presents are good enough for the safeties to just look the other way when he runs by.

LSU is not allowed to use TE's, it is against University Head Football Coach policy

We go Stokes, Dickson, and Dillon who all are more physically ready to play and have been in the program at least through a spring and summer. If Smith plays early, he's even better tan expected. I expect him to start making meaningful catches in late October.

He will have the best hands from day one, but will need some time to learn everything and to fill out. I doubt we see him much the first half of the year, but I can see them working him in the later half, if the situation arises..Depending on how others are doing, and his development.

It will be interesting to see how he matches up against SEC defenses. At barbe he would just tower over defenders. Trey Quinn would just have to throw it high and Desean could reach up with out leaving his feet and defenders couldn't even jump high enough to reach his hands.

He will play and play a lot. You people should think before you spew your ignorance

Do you see him playing at TE this season or split out? He is very thin and underdeveloped right now for a SEC TE. Would like to see him split out but with Q Leslie coming in, Durel and the other WR's we have returning how do you see him being utilized?

He's no smaller than Richard Dickson was as a true FR.
