I do not see how anyone can say we will competing for a national championship with our lack of Line Backers. If Beckwith leaves this is what we are left with:
Devin Voohies
Duke Riley
Donnie Alexander
Christian Pittman
Janathan Rucke
Hunter Burns
We will be starting true freshmen and walk-ons unless we move players around. Alabama always has great LB's. I have never seen this so weak at LSU.

Does Feist have one more year or is he gone?

Oh boy. I just don't know how I feel about next year haha.

I literally have no expectations for this team. I am hopeful that we compete and at the end of the year we are in a place where we could take the west, but I just don't feel it.

I think they will have to move either a running back or D lineman to LB to cover for the lack of Depth.

Even if Beckwith comes back the lb's are going to be really weak next season.

Anyone who thinks we will be able to stop Bama, Arkansas, or Wisconsin's running attack with that is kidding themselves.

A gross mismanagement of the roster.

Then why not make signing a couple of good JUCO linebackers a priority in recruiting? Has there been any discussion of this?

I think D.Alexander is going to be a good player but its pretty sad other than that.

Might need to bulk up Jamal Adams this offseason and put him at outside linebacker.

Don't worry the usual suspects will be here soon to tell you how it's not Leslie's fault.

Yes. Clifton Garrett is the top Juco LB in the country and he couldnt sniff the field at LSU....not a lot of options. The freshmen coming in are better options TBH

We were "CHAVISed" the last few years he was here and he wasn't a good recruiter to begin with....

Terrible idea. Corey Thompson maybe, but dont mess with Adams. He's exactly where he needs to be

I think Donnie Alexander and Duke Riley might be adequate outside linebackers. Without Beckwith, though, we won't have an adequate Mike. The best we can hope for is that those three provide adequate linebacker play behind what appears to be an excellent defensive line, and in front of a dominant secondary.

If any of this doesn't pan out, or if any of these get hurt, we will need one of the incoming freshman to be, not only very talented, but an extremely instinctive player and fast learner.

Actually we shouldnt see much of a change IF he does come back.

Riley will start at SAM probably and then either Alexander or one of the talented freshmen will step in opposite of him. It's also possible Riley starts at WLB instead of SAM if one of the bigger freshmen needs to be at SAM like Fowler or Divinity.

Keep in mind, a lot of teams put us in Nickel so we'll only have 2 LBs out there more often than not.

It's absurd that the man in charge let us get into this predicament. Embarrassing...

Why does everybody have to start their own thread about linebackers? LSU will have talent and depth at D-line and a good D-line can make average linebackers better just like a great O-line can make average running backs better.

Add in
Ronnie Feist
Ronnie Lamarque
Trey Gallman
David Ducre
Tony Upchurch

We only need Mouton and JDM in the FB position.

If we land Devin White, its hard to see both of them going forward at RB. One needs to play LB....

Unfortunately, good linebackers do things integral to a team other than play on defense. As we discovered this year, a good and deep linebacker unit is indispensable on special teams.
