I don't get why LSU didn't just keep Peveto as the OLB coach. He was one of the best recruiters in the country...

ETA: Firing the national recruiter of the year to promote a GA just makes no sense IMO.

We have a ton of recruiters already and Peveto didn't seem to be doing a very good job coaching anywhere on the field.

Time to move on cut the weight. We need a permanent coach that can actually coach special teams. Dennis Johnson may be as good of a recruiter. Never know until he hits the road.

He could've at least been hired sooner and have him recruit Isaiah Buggs.

National recruiter of the year and OLB coach.... Where are the top three linebackers in LA currently committed?

to be fair, Chris Allen probably commits to LSU if BDP is still here

he committed to Bama as soon as he was fired

At least until after signing day, that's usually standard terms in the coaches contracts that the timing of contract dates are after signing day. This cost us Chris Allen and who knows how many other recruits.

Johnson got a battlefield promotion and obviously performed well under pressure and to the satisfaction of Orgeron and Aranda.

Not sure why this is bitch-worthy. They may feel like he is an awesome recruiter.

Because every group Peveto coaches at LSU under performs, seems obvious. Who cares what talent you bring in if you can't coach it up. We are not losing to Bama because of Talent for the most part, look at the NFL rosters. We will end up with a top 5 class this year, so no complaints.

Allen committed to Bama the night after Peveto was fired. Before that, he was considered a strong LSU lean.

I don't think O liked BDP. That and/or he just wanted all of "Miles'" BFFs gone.

He committed after Saban made his offer committable

Orgeron and Aranda have a much better "scoop" of how he is as a coach and recruiter than any of us. I'm sure neither is willing to promote unless they feel he would do his job well.

The BDP thing was a reaction to public opinion. Just because the guy has been a bad coordinator (very bad, yes) does not mean he is not a good recruiter (he is very good) or he can not be a good position coach.

The fact that he was sought by many P5 programs after Orgeron fired him indicates BDP is a valuable recruiting asset.
