Interview with Rosetta discussing the first week of spring practice. At the 10:30 mark, he starts to discuss the QB race.

Before the normal garbage gets posted, no one is saying he will actually start, but there is legit a competition going on.

Also talks about the freak out over the Beckwith injury. Said minor injuries happen at practice all of the time, and he had heard about KB's injury but wasn't going to report on it. Then tiger nation lost it

This is a fantastic and healthy thing.

But it does not equal a "QB controversy". That headline is pretty misleading.

Yeah, that's why there is a question mark.

Yeah, he can be a smug prick all he wants, but no is just gonna be calm when they hear the only capable MLB on the team who happens to be the leader of the entire defense had to be carried off the field with a knee injury.

Floating it as a question means it is being floated as a possibility. Which, I suppose it is. But what's the point of turning it into a "controversy." Not every competition is controversial. In fact, the vast majority aren't.

So... even with the question mark, it's misleading.

A more apt headline would be, "Competition is alive and well for LSU quarterbacks," or "Harris pushed by newcomers to improve"... something like that. But, I guess sensationalism is important in sports "journalism."

This is just my opinion, but when the only other QB on your roster with SEC game experience transfers, and your returning starting is coming off a somewhat shaky season, you're all about him, toe the line on coach speak. The fact that Les even mentions Etling is pushing, something he apparently never does, it's a real thing.

It will drive Harris if nothing else, which is a great thing. With Jennings out of the picture, I could see the danger of becoming complacent and assured in your status as starter. If Etling is truly competing hard, this is great news IMO.

Back to Beckwith, Dellenger just tweeted this photo. Neither knee wrapped.

Every position on the field, at every level of football, is subject to competition. Listen to the Patriots talk about Brady's first SB win. They had an incumbent Bledsoe who was a pretty damn good QB in the league. Some 6th round pick came out and just destroyed it in the classroom and practice. Saw an interview with Belichick talking about his struggle to justify keeeping him on the bench. Said the injury pretty much gave him an out, but the switch was going to happen at some point regardless.

If Etling happened to master the playbook and come out looking light years better than Harris, he will start. There just isn't a very strong chance of that actually occuring. Hopefully he plays well enough to keep Harris on his toes at all moments as that will push him to the best of his ability.

I agree wholeheartedly with all of this. I just have an issue with trying to brew controversy for the sake of clicks on an article.

It doesn't really matter if he was ever actually hurt or not. The story could have been that a guy who looked like Beckwith jammed his pinky putting on his helmet and people still would have freaked out, and rightfully so.

Our LB depth is horrible. Two true freshmen are projected to be starters. Beckwith might be the only actual MLB on the entire team, at least until the guy who was playing RB in HS last year gets his feet wet.

Not only that, he is the leader and signal caller of the front 7 and one of only a few seniors.

Dellenger is full of shite and trying to seem more collected than us stupid reactionary fans.

So Dellenger isn't popular around here, then?

I'm not in Louisiana anymore, so I'm still learning who's full of crap and who's legit.

Ever since Flynn, the only starter we've had who wasn't being "pushed" was Mett. What does QB stability at LSU feel like?

I honestly don't know a thing about the guy other than he reports on LSU every once in awhile. He may be loved or hated here, I'm just calling it like I see it.

Almost 100% of the time, if a headline asks a question, the answer is "No".
