A draft-eligible sophomore, Deichmann was selected in the 26th round by the Minnesota Twins in last week’s MLB Draft. He said Monday he will play summer baseball in the Cape Cod League and it is a “done deal” that he will return to school.

This is great news, although I don't consider anything a done deal until the signing day comes and goes. Hopefully the Twins spend their bonus pool elsewhere and he's never even tempted.

I agree. Nothing is a done deal until July deadline has come and gone. If he comes back and hits like he did the last 2 weeks he could be one of the best hitters in the country. So glad Greg Sr has chilled out and seen that LSU has been good to his kid. The way he talked at the beginning of the season he said Greg was out on his first change. Thank God for him seeing the light, Greg the last 2 weeks was scary'

He's one of the few that greatly benefits from coming back. He can improve his draft stock tremendously and he still holds the cards when it comes to negotiating his junior year. Now he's 100% gone after next season.

So does he stay at first or try another position? If everyone returns who should, in the infield anyway, I see no other place for him. And hopefully he spends the summer getting better at that position, as I love a big tall semi fast 1st bagger.

Shortening his swing has really helped. If he stays at first, he should add some weight.

He can be around 20 for sure. Let's do this, maybe a few more will come back and want to go for it all next year
