I'm glad you noticed. I'll get on the phone and call Chavis right away.

This was perpetually a problem with LSU's defense before the Saban era when we finally seemed to get some decent DB play.

No anticipation on routes because the DBs know there is no pass rush so the ball will not come out early. No pass rush, DBs have to play every route like it's a vertical route.

yep, every time i watch football! During some of the LSU post-game highlights (forgot what channel) the 'expert' went over some of the pass breakups against OBJ. He stated that DBs are taught to reach up when they see the reciever extend their hands for the ball and try to strip the ball away.

Now that you mention it, I have sort of noticed this.

This is way more important than turning around. We've had some that were great at this. Chevis Jackson is the first that comes to mind for me. The badger did this well too.

True, under Dinardo I swear its like the DBs didn't know they were allowed to look up at the ball.

Against UGA there was one TD in particular where the defender was right there, in good position but didn't ever see the ball which passed right in front of his face.

Simon was actually very good and knocking the ball out at the last minute.

There's also rarely any Safety help, so turning around to spot the ball can lead to being beat down the sidelines.

I screamed this at least ten times this past weekend. I felt like if the DBs would at least look at where the ball is they could improve their positioning and play on the ball instead of just sticking your hands out and praying.

from DiNardo...what did you expect.?

here is another angle looking at the ball avoids a lot of interference calls as, in theory, both the O and D have the right to the ball.

as much as the LBs need to get with it..
you are right...

the pass plays hurt us more than anything else....
and our coverage did not have a clue.

I noticed a couple of players looking around as if to say ..where is ???/
