I've never been much a defensive guy but with our secondary playing well, do you think Aranda will put a spy on Patterson?

Your not going to spy Patterson, because he is not a real threat to run. Better to use that defender to blitz or drop back into coverage. The key to beating Patterson is pressure; can't let him sit in the pocket with time to throw.

I haven't watched one second of Ole Miss this year, but stats tell me he has 42 rushes for -14 yards, so I'm guessing he's not doing any read option stuff this year and those are just sack/scramble numbers. Doesn't seem to warrant a spy

Mostly, but not always. We beat Johnny Football by keeping him in the pocket; we play contain on those types of QBs and let them throw all day. LSU will probably do something similar with aTm this year. And it might be our best shot against Hurt.

I don't. It seems like Arandas defense, with all the stunts, would take care of a scrambling QB. If not, it at least has to be harder to find a gap to run through.

yep, at least some of the time...
Disguise it some of that time
Show it, but vary personnel, often (deterrence & confuses covers)

I think we'll try and pressure him alot. He is still young and somewhat of a risk taker. A turnover is worth a couple of plays made by him. Not to mention, after that first turnover he'll handcuff himself and then it's like an extra defender.
