And like WBB posts if you do not care about gym, fine, move on to another post
some of us go to other sports and want LSU to win. LSU cant win in every sport all the time. But IMO Gym is the poster child for why have the program if you are going to have a coach in her 36th yr who (and now for some facts, and only facts)
* Is 24-28 over her last 3+ seasons
* Has finished in the bottom half of SEC 7 team league 7 years in a row and 10 of past 12
* Has an overall winning percentage of 60%
* Has not won SEC since 1985 (only time)
* Will almost certainly lose tonight to UF. Whose coach is in her 12th year has won 80% of her matches, is 9-2 vs LSU and has won more SEC's in 11 years than DD has in 35
* By the way, UF is only the 3rd best team in the SEC most years

After considering these facts, ask your self this question, has there ever been a coach in any sport in SEC history who was around for 36 years with such a dismal record in her conf? Our team and Univ deserve better, a chance to win and for a change. None of my note is in any way a reflection of the coach personally, I have only touced on the factual records.

I'm not saying DD is the greatest coach ever, but you don't exactly know how the scores are calculated, do you?

Not to mention the injuries over the last 4 years.

ok, last 4 years injuries maybe, other teams have this too, but the last 27 since we even won our own 5-7 team conf.?

And how are the scores calculated for UF,UGA and Ala who have beaten us over 80% of the time (yes are winning% is 20%) during past 25 years?

I think they hired the coach in waiting - the assistant from Georgia
They should be much better this year

I know little about gymnastics, so help me out. How do you finish in the top 10 nationally (9th last year and 9 out of the last 10 years) while having a losing record?

In the 36 years she has also made it to the Super Six twice (2008, 2009). Made 28 consecutive NCAA regional appearances, 23 NCAA Championship appearances, 8 NCAA individual national titles, 11 Regional Titles, 14 Sec Champions, 4 SEC Gymnasts of the year, 110 Scholastic All-Americans and has 600 career wins. She's finished top 20 in the nation for 17 straight years. The SEC is the most competitive conference for gymnastics. One good note is that she added an assistant this year who coached for Georgia and won something like 4 straight national championships. The future looks good so let's see what she can do this year.

Because of the unique scoring system.

I don't think anyone should be coaching the same team for 36 years, regardless of person, place or sport.

That's a degree of comfort that's not any good for anyone involved.

Because if they fire her, she'll pull a Tony Minnis-style descrimination suit against LSU. Never mind he was there 20+ years with a losing record and few NCAA appearances.

DD knows she's safe, which is why she's stealing a check from LSU each year.

The OP is a joke. I'm praying that this is your worst post ever.

DD is a hall of fame coach. She produces more results with less resources than any other program at LSU. We are the only team I'm aware of in the SEC without a true practice facility. The girl is a champion and master motivator. Your statistics are exponentially more skewed than Les Miles' win record. She packs more butts in the seats for a gymnastic meet than LSU can manage for some basketball games.

Maybe you don't like her because she reminds you so much of Nick Saban? They were good friends and she runs her program similarly to him. Personally, I rather not lose another coach like that again.

Congratulations, on giving a perfect lecture of stats 101.... They can be manipulated to read whatever your agenda may be on that given day.

Because you aren't actually competing against the other team for national rankings. Your competing against the entire country.

I'll leave with this.

Take les Miles and give him the same resources as Vandy and tell me his win record. It won't be pretty.

Now give DD Bama's, UGA's, and UF's resources and then we can evaluate her job. You can't give someone a pile of shite and practice equipment hidden in the back of the track facility and expect her to win National Titles every year. With that said.... I think it speaks volumes to what she has accomplished with said shite.

I'm going to do my best to make a Baseball analogy here, but the injuries to the Gym Team over the last 4 years have all been career-ending and would be the equivalent of Mainieri losing his starting weekend rotation, shortstop, center fielder, and power hitter multiple years in a row.

Your opponents score during a meet is irrelevant. There are teams in other conferences that have 6-1 meet records and don't even make the NCAA's because their AA scores are garbage.
