Dave Aranda is not a good hire for LSU, but a great hire.

Dandy Don's interview with Mike Detillier.

Like Ed Orgeron, he puts great emphasis on affecting offenses with pressure, and that makes him a great fit.

Blending his new ideas with Coach O's expertise gives LSU a very firm foundation

Scott: Some of my readers have expressed concern that Aranda's hiring might not sit well with Coach O and that it could drive him away? Any concern about that?

Mike: Believe me, there are no hard feelings there. If Ed Orgeron was going to leave he would have left already. He has had opportunities to coach elsewhere in 2016, but he and his family have decided to stay and he is one of the elite recruiters and defensive line coaches in college football. His oldest son is at LSU already and the twins are graduating from Mandeville. Louisiana is home. The quick hiring of Aranda tells me that Les Miles knew this long ago and was quick to cash in on a very hot coaching talent in Aranda. Coach O will get along very well with Aranda.

Can he affect our offense?

What your guys don't understand is the defense helps the offensive side.
More pressure = more takeaways= shorter field to work with.

His scheme makes me a little nervous for our schedule but to say I'm not stoked to see him work with our talent is an understatement.
Miles has been making great hires recently. Now if Peveto wants another job somewhere i won't complain...

Don't waste your time. Some LSU fans are just wired to go through life with a negative outlook.

Or the other word for that: reality. Dave Aranda and his defense ain't making BH a better decision maker any time soon.

No maturity from more time being a college QB will help BH become a better decision maker. He was already better in the bowl game. Fact: The older QB's get the better they get.

If You're that great of a Clairvoyant can you give me the winning Powerball numbers?

We'll see but I think our defense will be better.

Bad decisions is not BH's problem. He's just not consistantly accurate.
Agreed. Despite a few late in the season, he is not a turnover machine. He lead the SEC in QB efficiency for a good stretch this year because of that. And for those who want to talk about the quality of the competition early in the year, Jennings looked bad against worse in 2014, and probably against air, as well.
Harris' issues are consistency, which probably stems a lot from sloppy footwork and mechanics, and playing at SEC game speed. He needs to tune up the technique more in the offseason. As for game speed, he is a half-step slow making decisions. Not as bad as Jennings, but enough to just miss on several opportunities, including pulling the ball down and running.
If the game slows down a bit for Harris next year thanks to a year of starting experience and more film study, he has an opportunity to get a lot better. He is not a lost cause, by any stretch.

I mean...it can
isn't that the nega argument for 2011 success? that the defense and special teams helped the offense with short fields?

In the second part of the advocate interview, Aranda talks about going to USC when he was a GA at California Lutheran and talking to Orgeron and getting film from him. It's clear the respect is there from Aranda, and that's all most people want at the end of the day. Pretty great rest Bunta posted it I think.
