Last Tuesday when I attended the team’s second practice of the spring, I noted that there were a ton of dropped passes, off-target throws, and general sloppiness. This was not the case yesterday. In fact, I’d say that compared to a week ago the team looked like a fine-oiled machine. You can see for yourself the improvement by watching my three-minute video below:

As for the other injuries, Guice is dealing with a “swollen ankle or something like that” that Coach O described as “nothing bad.” LaCouture told The Advocate on Monday that he’s dealing with “scar tissue” issues in his rehabilitated knee, and that is presumed to be the reason for his absence. “Greedy” Williams’ injury was not disclosed but Coach O said he should be back in a couple of days.

The team held a scrimmage Saturday that was closed to the media and to the public, and Coach O said the offense had the upper hand. “Ran some up-tempo and got the defense very tired,” he said. One player Orgeron singled out as having a good scrimmage is running back Derrell Williams, who has dropped his weight down to 229. This is consistent with an email I received from someone who attended the scrimmage as a guest and left very impressed with Williams.
