Covered quite a bit today on the offensive recruits. A few highlights

quote:

I really believe the one guy offensively, depending on what happens with Devin White, who will see playing time the fastest as a true freshman is guard Donavaughn Campbell. I wrote this in the summer about him on your site that he has a chance to be a dominant college offensive lineman.

quote:

With Ethan Pocic playing left tackle, Maea Teuhema playing left guard, Will Clapp at center and Toby Weathersby at right tackle, that will be strong.

The right guard spot will be the battle point upfront. That's where Campbell could well come into play and fast. I look forward to seeing Adrian Magee, Josh Boutte, K.J. Malone and Chidi Valentine-Okeke and how they have progressed as Spring Drills come around. LSU's offensive line can hang with the big boys.

quote:

Drake Davis has the best shot to see action as a freshman. He is a world class athlete. 6-3, 215, very smooth into and out of his cuts and breaks, soft hands and the ability to position himself so well between the ball and the defender. Out of the three, Davis has the best chance to play early for LSU. He is a better version of Brandon LaFell when he came to LSU.

quote:

In today's world, the best high school player is lining up at wide receiver and defensive back. Louisiana is wide receiver state now.

quote:

I worry more that LSU has been determined to recruit these "movement QB's", other than Zach Mettenberger, and then try to make them pro-style "in the pocket" passers. Good coaches adjust to the talent level at that most critical spot. Miles has to adjust his offense. In 2016 either he adjusts or the results stay the same.

quote:

I like that Cam Cameron was on the sidelines. I work with three former NFL quarterbacks and every one of them has long told me Cameron should be down on the field. Why did it take so long to figure that out?

quote:

None of those guys will challenge Harris for the starting spot. Barring injury, Harris is the clear cut choice. I wonder if Anthony Jennings sees the writing on the wall and heads out during the summer. He wants to play, and like a lot of other QBs he might just decide to transfer out. I am anxious to watch the growth of Justin McMillan. He has something about him that is intriguing as a passer and he can create plays with his feet.

quote:

Donovaughn Campbell, the offensive guard. Devin White sees some time at running back, linebacker and on special teams and the same could be said for Drake Davis, but I see Campbell being the guy on offense. Campbell plays the game like Mike Iupati did at Idaho and he has been a terrific NFL player with the 49ers and the Cardinals. But Devin White may turn out to be a Myles Jack type player at LSU.

quote:

The negative is that LSU has rarely used their tight ends as receivers. I have said that for years now. I like Pettigrew a lot, but you have to use his pass-catching skills. They haven't done that much with DeSean Smith or Foster Moreau or Dillon Gordon. Now they did get the ball a little to Colin Jeter, but I can't understand the coaches' thinking on the tight end spot.

quote:

Defensively the Tigers are not real big upfront and that won't change much in 2016. Some of those bigger freshmen will have to play but they have to grow up big to match up against Alabama, Ole Miss and Arkansas. You will be asking 18 and 19 years olds to go up against 21 and 22 year old men. Handling the size/power issue upfront along the defensive front 7 is a legitimate concern.

Quite a bit more covered in the interview.

Biggest keys for me. Will the coaches learn to adjust the offense? It all rides on that offensively.

great interview. condensing it down, LSU's run toward the SEC and or NC next year has two weaknesses...

1) QB play. he stated that LSU needs to keep CC on the field and needs to taylor the calls to his strengths

2) our front 7 is smallish and will struggle to stop the power teams of bama, ole miss and arky

don't get me wrong, EVERY team has weaknesses and they have to be overcome to win at the highest level. it seems that the QB is what it is; BH or nothing and ditto with the front 7.

I expect, barring key injuries for LSU to go 10-2 next year dropping 2 of 3 against those power teams.

Yeah, I'm not buying this. What is small about Christian Lacouture, Davon Godchaux, Frank Herron and Greg Gilmore? They averaged 300 pounds last year. They might be a little bigger this year. Lewis Neal is a good sized end, Beckwith is a monster at mlb.

Our defenses problem is that our offense could not control the ball. And save the time of possession arguments. You're always going to have good TOP when you run the ball 20% more than your opponents.

If the offense is good next year, this defense will kick arse.

LSU is going to have a tough time beating Alabama and OM...but both games are at home. I could see a split there. It is hard to imagine Arky beating LSU three years in a row...but that game is away, so it is certainly possible.

I think 10-2 is a the most likely outcome.

The SECw is going to be interesting. Bama replaces a lot of players. OM replaces some but they get Bama at home. LSU returns a lot and get Bama and OM at home.

If LSU is going to make a title run, this almost has to be the year.

point is we only have 2 DT's in at one time. and a decent size middle linebacker. our ends are tiny weightwise compared to 315 lb OL's. so we've got 2 big guys in the middle and the OL has 5. we've got 2 small ends rushing and our lb'[s are not that big.

I'm excited about aranda putting in 3 DT's with one of those small guys at end as a rusher.

I know we aren't coaches, and it's his team and he can do whatever he wants with it. His biggest flaw so far has been his unwillingness to adapt and try to play to his players strengths. He doesn't do much to try and makes his quarterbacks comfortable, while they're usually having to start as underclassmen in a foreign offense that they've never been in before.

Les has to come out of the 1970's this year and evolve at least at a small percentage. LSU carries good expectations going into every season, and this is another high hope year. Last year was the closest he's came to losing his job since he's been here. I hope it helped him realize that something has to be done.

I'm not with the whole " our D line is way too small" either, especially this year. The offense has to not go 3 and out. Everyone's coming back and as the season goes R. Lawrence, big Ed, Logan, Isaiah Washington, Deondre Clark(played for first time in bowl game, looked 280ish) A. Anthony will all be in the rotation. We should be able to play 10-12 lineman/game....also think against power teams we will see the 5-2 with 3 big D lineman and 2 big OLBs/DEs up on the line to play the run
