I may agree with Dale here; I don't have enough information to say for sure. Did Johnny participate in the hype campaign (which I agree was dumb) or was he against it? Also, how much did Ben and his parents self-contribute to the hype?

I agree with what he said

But he also didn't mention how Johnny dropped the ball this season.

I'd argue LSU didn't hype it enough (shocker)

Other than "he's coming" what did they even do? LSU is fricking terrible at promoting so i at least give them credit for doing something

So he said nothing about the coaching job this year?

Just putting the blame on the University? Nothing else?

JJ's are LSU 's kryptonite

So the LSU promotions department is the reason we couldn't make free throws? The promotions department was why we couldn't stop dribble penetration? The promotions department was why we jacked up 30' shots with 25 sec left on the shot clock? The promotions dept. is why we couldn't block out?
No Sir. The reason is we hired a coach in over his head, who was 91-88 with 1 conference title in 12 seasons at north Texas.
Do you think if the promotions department at duke or Kentucky or Syracuse or uconn (women's) did something that coach k, or cal, or boeheim, or auriama didn't like that they would have allowed it to continue? HELL No.
Because those guys control every aspect of there programs all the way down to the flavor Gatorade they pass out at practice.
That's what coaching is. If a guy doesn't box out, sit his arse on the bench, if he jacks up a crappy shot, sit his arse down, if you can't keep your man in front of you, you don't play.

You want to know what John wooden used to do on the first day of practice every year he coached? He sat the entire team down and demonstrated how they were to put on there socks and how to lace and tie your shoes.
It's down to the minute details. And when all-American Bill Walton finished touring with the grateful dead and arrived at the first practice, he didn't think he needed to do that, Coach Wooden told him he could sit down or he could not play on the team, his choice. How do you think played out?

No Dale the reason for the failure of this team and program rests with your protege Jonny Jones. He is not equipped to run this program. He is not detail oriented, he is not disciplined, he doesn't demand excellence or command respect from his players. This was all evident in the collapse at the end of the season, and or inconsistent Jykle and Hyde play the last 4 yrs.

I'm sorry it's so long, but this has pissed me off

I love Dale but he needs to go run and hide and let the big boys handle this basketball program. Dale is as opinioned at they come. Nothing will get done until Dale passes this life.

Johnny Jones is the prime offender. He had no clue how to handle a one-and-done.

Dale brown may be the bigger offender by getting him the job here.

Simmons didn't live up to the hype. Absolutely no players on this team that can play under the basket. No consistent outside shot from anyone on this team. no defensive minded players on this team either. Coaching was horrible to boot.

If Johnny Jones had any pride he'd reach out and ask Dale not to do any media that relates to this year's season. Dale Brown is tarnishing his legacy and makes Johnny Jones look like he's communicating by proxy to assign blame elsewhere through the media.

How quickly things have changed for our Athletics Department. Failures of leadership and lack of accountability. It's jumped the fireline from academia to athletics, and we're seeing the lamentably laughable result.

Pathetic.

I wasn't at practice either, but I can tell by watching the games that there couldn't been much coaching going on at practice. Especially on defense. With that collection of athletes that team should have been really tough defensively. They were horrible because they were always out of position. That's coaching.

I don't know about LSU but media wend overboard by hyping Simmons and he was not even close to the hype. I was very excited to watch LSU basketball again because of Simmons and after a few games I asked myself if this (Simmons) was what I was excited about.

Lester ain't the only one that got a bag from Johnny.

Wasn't he the one that reported $20,000 missing from his hotel room in Gulfport while on a recruiting trip as an assistant at LSU?
