Dale Brown: 'LSU did the basketball program an injustice'

Dale Brown on Finebaum's Show
Discusses how Ben is a nice kid.
He references a conversation with Kent Lowe in regards to the "He's Coming" Campaign and how LSU should take blame.
Said that LSU did Simmons an injustice, as well as, the team in regards to how the marketing and the hype.
Said that the media got on a bandwagon and it became the Ben Simmons show and built the parallel to Magic Johnson (early in his college career).
Also said that LSU could beat anybody in the country, but could lose to anybody as well.

While there's some truth in that, it was really the national media. Also, cjj did nothing too detract from the hype before the season. If anything he added too it while speaking too boosters, the media,etc. he was a once in a decade type talent for a school like LSU and the school used it as an opportunity too garner interest in the program. The plan worked but it also put the spotlight on cjj and his deficiencies.

I disagree with Dale on this one.
Johnny Jones is not a quality coach. Bottomline, you can have all the McDonald's All Americans you want (He had 2), JJ couldn't do anything with them.

I don't think he once said Jones was a great coach in that conversation. In fact, he said he had no idea about any of the behind the scenes issues because he wasn't at practices.

Anyone with two fricking eyes can see this team vastly under-performed. And to say LSU is to blame is fricking hilarious. People had been deeming Simmons the "Next Lebron" and hyping the shite out of him years before he even came here. After this year's draft, Johnny will have coached at least 4 players that are in NBA and we won't have shite to show for it. Just face it Dale, it's tourney or bust next year for your homeboy.

How bout we blame daddy dale and his butt buddy temple (aka king of aau) for throwing their weight around to put JJ into a position that he doesn't have the tools to succeed in. He is their last hope of all things that were lsu basketball when they were around. Of course they are gonna blame lsu and not JJ.

Is he seriously suggesting that it was the LSU marketing that created the Simmons Hype and that the national media jumped on their bandwagon?
