But Dale put people in the P-Mac with his coaching style and personality...have you been to a game lately with TJ as coach?...kinda of like a funeral that only had a few people showed up for

Robert Parish went to Centanary
Edmund Lawrence went to McNeese
Benoit Benjamin went to Creighton
Tom Curry went to Marshall after commiting to LSU following a former LSU assistant Rick Huckabay
Karl Malone went to La Tech
For the most part, this looks more like a list of poorly recognized LA talent that NO ONE recognized. It's not like these guys ended up at Indiana, or UNC, or UCLA, or Kansas instead of LSU...
Had you had guys like Dwayne Bryant on the list, I could see your point.

RIP Rick huckaby. He brought my talents to Menard.
Good man with a misunderstood past.

didn't he hand out warm ups to recruits with cash in the pockets while he was at marshall ?

the best thing that can happen to dale is the passing of time .. apparently, fewer and fewer people remember the condition the basketball program was in when dale finally stepped down .. he actually left the program in worse shape than he found it years earlier ... oh, sure, in between he had some success .. but he knowingly funneled money to lester earl, then drew a line in the sand and wouldn't give him his release when he wanted to transfer to kansas and he sang like a bird to the NCAA ... have people really forgotten how bad things had gotten in dale's last few seasons and how long it took LSU to climb out of the doldrums that he left here ??
sure, brown did a lot for LSU hoops, but in the end he did a lot to LSU hoops ...

i have heard a lot of really good things about the guy and most will tell you he coached the 1981 LSU final four team in the Xs and Os department ... but NCAA investigators would disagree with you on that issue ... he got caught red handed and was pretty much black balled from coaching at that level from that point onward ...

If I remember correctly Karl Malone didnt qualify, Tom Curry went to LSU and I remember seeing him play in the rec hall and Greg Cook was back from the NBA and he and Leonard Mitchell bounced Curry around like a rag doll till he basically walked off pouting for the day. Curry was the softest big man I can ever remember seeing at LSU was a flop at Marshell and I believe got into trouble.
Dale may have missed on some but he did get Floyd Bailey, Ethan Martin, Howard Carter, Randy Livinston, Leonard Mitchell, Derrick Taylor and Don Redden to name a few of LA recruits who did pretty well at LSU!

you missed that part where Lester Earl announced that he Lied..it was in the BR Advocate. You should read up on it sometime.
Some success? And Bear Bryant won a few games.

Dale Brown was a good man and a good coach but he's definitely a contributing factor to why LSU basketball is still in the dumps. We couldn't get a better coach than some guy from Samford when Brown left..

Agreed!! And yes Dale did leave the program in bad shape, and prob should have left sooner, but he was fun, and he won, and the fans responded to that.

Well, when Creighton's coach diddles his mom while recruiting Benoit, its hard to compete with those recruiting tactics.
