I saw this interesting note on Football Scoop:

Chicago Bears: After one season with the team, wide receivers coach Curtis Johnson will not return, per the Chicago Tribune.

He is pursuing another opportunity, assumed to be in the NFL, but...

More fuel for the fire.

As good of a coach as he is, if he doesn't have the heart in recruiting anymore then I hope he does stay in the pros

They don't need a great recruiter. They need a great coach (which he is) that will be a good mentor (which he is) that will get the damn job done on the field

I disagree completely. If he replaces Craig, you are losing a great recruiter.

- Old man river is not doing any recruiting
- Aranda is not know for his recruiting
- Orgeron cannot hit the recruiting trails like he could in the past
- lost Peveto (he was a horrible ST but great Texas recruiter)
- Dennis Johnson hasn't made connections yet.

Why do you say that?

Aranda makes his money recruiting by showing what he turns less talent into. Austin Thomas recruits for Pete so that argument is null, our head coachs main job is to recruit, and Raymond is a damn good recruiter. I think we would be fine

Bring in Ryan Clark, that guy is so charismatic, he will kill in recruiting when colleges come calling.

I don't disagree that CJ is the best WR coach in the game. The fact remains, however, that if he doesn't want to recruit then he may as well stay in the nfl.

I disagree that we don't need a recruiter. College is a lot about recruiting and we need to be able to recruit against our competition. We can't just pretend recruiting doesn't matter.

I would love for LSU to get CL but I predict he will go to the Saints.

CJ is a great recruiter with ties just as strong as Frank Wilson to NO.

Wrong. Austin Thomas is recruiting because he is filling the open position of ST coach. Once an ST coach is hired, he is no longer allowed to recruit.

There are also separate rules for head coach contact. So coach O cannot recruit the same way he has as an assistant.
