He recruited lights out at Miami. Plus you know he developed relationships with local high school coaches while at Tulane. Could be an intriguing hire

He recruited Marshall Faulk to San Diego St. Gave Faulk a shot at RB when everyone else wanted him at CB.

He never coached anything but WRs before he became a head coach.
Probably why he wasn't a good head coach.
