Hendrix threw his best game of the year tonight. He's good, but he hasn't been nearly this good up until tonight. And it's not just tonight, Sciambra has been slumping for a while now. I'm not saying to necessarily take him out of the lineup, but Laird is really the prototypical leadoff guy.

Laird would be a great leadoff guy but I also really like him in the 2 hole. And yeah Sciambra strikes out way too much.

Same reason why Stevie wouldn't be very good there(K's).

Laird should stay at 2 because he handles the bat better (hits to both sides, puts it on the ground) which moves runners. I think Stevenson should lead off. His OB% is good. The chances that Stevenson would be on 2nd with Bregman and Hale batting would be more likely than Sciambra IMHO.

If that's what Mainieri wants at leadoff he should put Bregman there.

Bregman is a first pitch guy; not what you want in a lead off. Recently he's changed his approach, because pitchers were getting used to him jumping on the first pitch, and they started pitching him backwards. Plus he's the perfect three hole hitter.

No, then you'd be striking out with a runner on. What you want out of the two guy is productive ABs. Who cares how often the leadoff strikes out? What you want is for him to work the count and have a high on base % and speed on the bases. Sciambre has all of that.

If you want to move Sciambre, he should go to 8 or 9, not 2.

This a refreshingly insightful and civil discussion for the rant.

I wish there were more like this. Nice work fellas.
