In post game comments, Gus Malzahn is quoted as saying "We still control our own destiny." Since then there have been several articles written to the same effect. It has been bothering me because I don't know what I am missing. Technically, if both Auburn and LSU win out, then LSU wins the west. Ignoring the improbability of that occurring, it is technically true. By definition, Auburn does NOT control it's own destiny (and btw LSU does). What am I missing or is this just getting overlooked because it is assumed Bama beats LSU???

It’s assumed Bama beats LSU, just like it was assumed Auburn would beat LSU too.

I heard the ESPN panel guys say the same thing. I was like

They’re definitely already penciling in Bama as an “L” for LSU.

Both have one sec loss. Both play Bama. Thus you win out you win the West. LSU wins cause they beat auburn

Auburn does not at all control their own destiny. They need LSU to lose against Bama. You can't control your own destiny if you need a team to lose, regardless of how likely it may seem.
