I think Harris being a Junior will be a bigger deal than people think.

IN 8 years at Alabama, Nick Saban has started a QB less than 3 years out high school 1 time, and lost.

2007- JPW 3rd Year junior
2008 JPW 4th year Senior
2009 McElroy 4th Year Junior
2010 McElroy 5th Year senior
2011 McCarron 3rd Year sophomore
2012 McCarron 4th year Junior
2013 McCarron 5th Year senior
2014 Sims 5th Year Senior
2015 Coker 5th Year Senior

7 our of 9 years he has started a QB who in either their 4th or 5th year.

He has NEVER started anyone as young as Harris. Cooper Bateman was a 3rd year sophomore and he Lost his only start this year.

Look at Les's QBs

2005- Jamarcus- 3rd year Sophomore
2006 Jamarcus- 4th year Junior
2007 Flynn- 5th year senior
2008 Lee- 2nd year Freshman
2009 Jefferson- 2nd year Sophomore
2010 Jefferson- - 3rd year Junior
2011 Jefferson/Lee- 4th and 5th year seniors
2012 Mett- 4th year Junior
2013 Mett- 5th year senior
2014 Jennings- 2nd year Sophmore
2015 Harris - 2nd year sophomore

That 5 years with 4th or 5th year seniors. In those 5 years we have a 56-11 record, 2 SEC championships. We average 2884 yard yards passing a season.

In the years where we have 2nd year players starting our record is 33-17 record.

Between in the 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 classes we got 1 QB that ever started a game at LSU. It was Mett and he was a JUCO transfer.

We still couldn't beat Bama with Mettenberger. We can develop QBs and I don't expect that to change as well.

Beating bama isn't the only indication of a good QB.

Lots of good Qbs lose to bama every year.

But we will need good QB play to beat them. The more good QBs we have the better.

We are starting sophomores against 5th years seniors the last two years. We can't expect to win like that.

Not beating Bama directly affects us not making the playoffs. Chad Kelly beat Bama his first year playing for Ole Miss. He coach actually prepares and develops.

Do you know how old Chad Kelly is?

Do you know how long he has been at Ole Miss?

Did their coach not prepare them for Florida and Memphis?

Is Ole Miss in the playoffs?

I am just gonna say that Chad kelly was a bad example to use to make your point.

Harris cant hit the broadside of a barn from 10 yards away. The problem is poor position coaching.

But if that barn is 20+ yards away, Harris is money.

LSU needs QB teachers which Crowton/Cameron are not.
Miles was lucky to have Matt Flynn, trained by Jimbo. Jarrett Lee was dumped on by Miles which was very sad.
Sabeaux does not care if his QB's win any awards, he just expects them to execute the game plan. Sadly for Tiger fans, Miles game plan is to:
run to the right
run to the left
pass
kick.

Crowton straight up sucked. For sure. Just Garbage.

Cameron IDK. I just think it takes longer to develop some guys.
Not every team has a true Sophomore out there making every throw.
Most teams don't.

Who's fault is that? How many wins do you think Bateman will have next season?

QB is definitely a glaring issue, but i bet you'd get similar numbers if you compared the offensive lines for the 2 teams.

Our OLine was very young and facing an NFL front vs Alabama this year and it was painfully obvious. Its a major difference physically, men vs boys at that age.

College QBs are hit or miss, but mostly miss. I few years back OU brought in the top recruiting class. Remember Blake Bell? He was the cherry on top! Needless to say, he didn't pan out. A QB's mindset is just as important as all the tangibles. I think LSU would benefit from a proven HS QB with a baseball background. I also like what I've seen from watching McMillan on YouTube

to be fair tis a corner blitz

Tackles generally don't pick those up

I don't think i remember seeing a tackle get a hand on Tyrann.

Well, when you can recruit for depth and not need, you can allow guys to develop without forcing them to play. That goes for other positions as well.
