In fact, he appeared to get better.

so wouldn't you attribute that to good coaching? or did he just get better all on his own?

We surely would miss Stephen Rivers and I wished he was there with the team when we went into Jordan Hare stadium and Ben Hill Griffin stadium this fall.

Why exactly are we going to miss him?

Didn't you know? The guys that leave are always diamonds in the rough who never got their fair crack at it.

why was chris garrett even mentioned? he was way down the depth chart. then he transferred to northwestern st where he never started a game either. his career stats there: 6 for 13 for 24 yards with three interceptions and no touchdowns. then he apparently was supposed transfer and walk-on at ole miss but i'm not sure if that ever ended up happening. lsu didn't make him a bust, he just wasn't very good. kid seemed lazy too. was fat as hell by the time he got to northwestern state

Yeah I read some writer claiming the Lafayette QB on the LSU roster is more talented than Mettenberger.. so who knows.. LSU is fine regardless.

I disagree. Lee was thrown into the fire before he was ready. However, he improved each year, bailed us out of several games in 2010, and got us off to a great start in 2011.

After consistently seeing these RS freshman play lights out year one, you can't use that excuse anymore. Lee had Brandon LaFell, 5 star Toliver, Byrd who had a great year in 2007 straight from JUCO, Richard Dickson (possibly the best TE in LSU history (I don't know for sure), and a great running game. He was loaded for success, the offensive line was great, he was just terrible. I do believe actual QB coaching would have worked wonders for him, but it wasn't to be.

If you hit on the right QB with the right coaching you can have success early in your career at the QB position. Regardless of conference.

Do you think this...

quote:

Does it occur to Miles that if Harris beats out Jennings and Jennings transfers, we will be left without a backup QB on scholarship?

...might--just might--have something to do with this?

The problem isn't them leaving early or transferring, the problem is that every one of them between Matt Flynn (RP) and ZM didn't have the talent and should not have been recruited. We need better QB recruiting. shite, we had guys leave the program even BEFORE they ever hit campus, because they didn't have 'the chest'.

I agree LSU and especially Miles at LSU has been and bad adventure at QB .
Did Les recruit and develop a QB at OSU or any place ?

You mean two guys in back to back years? Both guys having far more talent?

Lee's issue was confidence.

I'm not saying he was a world beater, but he was a lot better than some people give him credit for.

Ask yourself: Has anything changed from when this history was generated to the current events?

Hint: you danced around it on #9

LOL. You need to watch more football.

John O Korn (true freshman)
Aaron Murray (redshirt freshman)
Brett Hundley (redshirt freshman)
Christian Hackenburg (true freshman)
Marcus Mariota (redshirt freshman)
Jameis Winston (redshirt freshman)
Johnny Manziel (redshirt freshman)
Jarred Goff (true freshman)
Baker Mayfield (true freshman)
Davis Webb (true freshman)
Brett Smith (true freshman)

All except Murray started after the 2010 season. Far more talent? Go look at the guys and who they were throwing to. That excuse doesn't hold anymore.

I had an older guy today come into my place of work. I was wearing my LSU hat, and he said, "I'm gonna tell you, I love LSU, even though I didn't go there. I also should say, the reason being is Les Miles. I grew up with Les and was best friends with Les. I've played football with him, and I've known him my entire life...."

After a long convo that was very interesting, he went on to say, "I do think this year LSU will do well, but there will be issues at quarterback, simply because the guys coming in are green. But the upside is, Alabama, Texas A&M, Florida and others will have untested QBs as well."

So I would say, he makes a good point to not forget other coaches will be experiencing development issues at the same position, and we shouldn't underestimate that these guys at LSU are in good hands with coach Cameron.
