2010: In 2010 (probably Alabama's 2nd best team under Saban, IMO) LSU put up a total of 433 offensive yards, including 208 passing. In one of the most fundamentally sound offensive games (given the opponent), LSU came out and did what it had to do. I'm not going to dig up the stats because that was a painful year offensively, but 24 points and 433 yards off offense was FAR more than what we averaged.

2008: In 2008, we managed to put up 388 total yards of offense with Jarrett Lee at QB. We ran the ball extremely well, and made the passing plays when we absolutely needed it to make it a game. Obviously, the outcome completely sucked.. but a 5 loss LSU went into OT with an undefeated regular season Alabama.

2012: In 2012, LSU put up 435 yards of offense, 296 of those through the air. Not ideal to our current talent or scheme, but the point I'm trying to make will be said after this.

This is not intended to be a Les hating post, or praising post. My opinion is that Les goes into almost every game knowing he has the better team, and draws up a game plan to not lose. Do enough to not lose, and allow our defense to win us the game. Since 2008, when we have played Alabama at home, our offense magically opens up and we put up numbers ABOVE our average against the best team we play. Coincidence? Maybe because it's death valley magic? I think not.

The playbook has been opened up just like the last 3 LSU/Alabama home games. Jennings won't be relied on AS MUCH as Mett was in '12, but expect to see more shot gun, more throws over the middle, and a heavy dose of screen game. We are going to win this game people. Whatever happens, I'll be yelling my arse off and suffering from a migraine in the process (happened against Ole Miss).

I'll believe it when I see it, but think we have a good chance to win.

LSU rushes for over 280 yards. Special teams comes up big. Amari is smothered. Sims throws two interceptions.

This is the game we typically see the offense opened up. It's just a little different this year because we were forced to do so against Ole Miss. Hopefully we build on what we were successful with and are closer to a balanced attack.

I'd love to see the Tigers expose the middle of the field with TEs, crossing routes and RB screens. Throwing to Fournette over Bama backers in between the hashes..

IMO it's all up to the defense. If we can consistently get stops and some Simms turnovers, we should win.

I too think that we'll have a solid offensive game plan on Saturday, but absolutely no way in hell 2010 was Saban's 2nd best team at Alabama. I'm curious to see how you think this.

I'd rank Bama's best teams as

1)2011
2)2012
3)2009
4)2008/2013
5)2010/2014?
6)2007

Because of the talent they had. The 2008 recruiting class really got them going.

Our current passing game is way behind any of those years. But I hope you're right.

Its not the game plan its the execution by the QB...we have had open guys down field and the QB has not been very consistent in making the right decisions or the accurate throw. CAm knows how to call plays on 3rd down to beat the other team's scheme but the qB has to hit the guy

Bama will send the house on our first offensive play , this would be the time to do something different and get us off to s good start .

In November 2012 the entire rant was in nonstop meltdown over our inability to throw the ball against SEC teams. Here are Mett's stats in the 3 games leading up to Bama 2012:

Florida 11-25 (44%) 158 y 0 TD 1 Int 89.09 QBR
S. Car 12-25 (48%) 148 y 0 TD 1 Int 89.73 QBR
T A&M 11-29 (38%) 97 y 1 TD 0 Int 77.41 QBR
