The man can reel off 6 straight national championships from now until his retirement, and it wouldn't change this idea. That's the power of perception over reality on our lazy-brained, modern society.

True, also, people just don't like or admire the way he carries himself. He doesn't have the hard-arse/rock star/good-looks persona that sportswriters and fans like to worship. Saban blows the Auburn game, nobody says a thing. Miles almost blows a few games and he's a moron.

Conventional wisdom is set on Miles and nothing he has done or will ever do will change many peoples opinion. Most don't have the courage or intellect to look at the facts and think for themselves.

Les Miles has been to two national title games. It’s not even clear he can coach on Saturdays. That’s the type of talent one finds in Louisiana.

I am a fan of CLM, but I found this funny.

I think the article is supposed to be in alphabetical order.

If this statement is true, why didn't we have multiple titles in the 90's? Why didn't Cholly Mac beat the Bear regularly?
The LSU of yesterday is not equal to the LSU of today.

It is. The article references five tiers. Other than Georgia being listed ahead of Florida, each tier has its teams listed in alphabetical order.

Because of two coaches in succession who can recruit and coach. Plenty of coaches can recruit, and can't coach and they fail and are fired. Some can coach and can't recruit and are fired. You don't survive at a school like LSU or Alabama or Florida in the present situation unless you do both well. To think that LSU recruits itself is naïve. History proves otherwise. There has always been talent in Louisiana, but either coaches failed to coach (DiNardo's defensive disaster or arguably McClendon in his later years) or failed to keep the best talent in state. To think that talented players can sustain success against other talented players in a conference like the SEC is just as naïve. Miles has managed to put together the best record of any coach at LSU and it isn't just because he has talented players.
