Even schools in the power 5 couldn't afford it.

Also, the MLB ball is not a durable ball compared to the college ball which can last much longer. Both the leather and the core are different. MLB balls lose their shape and get scuffed up more easily.

Ell is exactly right. College baseballs are way more durable. I think the cores are similar but the leather is a lot tougher. The first time I touched a MLB ball after college it was night and day. My off speed stuff was garbage.

Honestly, LSU is the only school that could afford them. Maybe South Carolina or some other SEC schools. But that is it.

I think there are 5 college baseball programs that generate a profit. LSU, UTx, Arkansas, and the Mississippi Schools I think. Could be wrong on the last 2.

I'm sure a school like Texas could afford them

They should just go back to the old bats of the mid-2000's. Problem solved

Actually, it's not exactly the minor league ball. They kept the core the same as before and just redid the leather and seams to be the same as the minor league ball.

Lord have mercy.
Like I tell my kids all the time, the answer is almost always money.
In this case, MONEY/cost.
