Lost 4 series in a row. I thought they got in our heads after that Katz bean ball.

Donnell (Baton Rouge): Aaron, big series this weekend with LSU and UK. Which team has the better pitching rotation, which team has the better offense and who do you like in the series.

Aaron Fitt: I’d give LSU the pitching edge on Friday and Saturday, but Corey Littrell might be the best Sunday starter in the nation, so UK gets the edge in that one. I do like LSU’s offense better — that unit is fearsome right now, with speed, power and depth. LSU is really rolling right now, and I do like the Tigers in that series.

Jordan (New orleans): Do you think Alex Bregman will win freshman of the year?

Aaron Fitt: Yes I do. He’s hitting .442 at a major program, slugging over .600, and playing a strong defensive shortstop — as a freshman at LSU, with all the pressure that comes along with that. The guy is just a superstar.

First 4 questions in Kendall's chat deal with LSU

Tough week lies ahead for UK – at Louisville and then 3 games against LSU at the Box. Predictions on what to expect?

Mike,
I'll put the midweek affair with Louisville as a tossup for a couple of reasons, given the fact it's a rivalry game, and well, it's midweek, where you never really know what to expect. I'll say LSU takes that series at home against the Wildcats, though. LSU is rolling right now, while UK looks slightly more beatable at this point.

Freshman of the year award goes to?

Adam,
As of right now, I'd go with LSU shortstop Alex Bregman. Cal State Fullerton's Thomas Eshelman/Justin Garza would also be in my mix, but you just can't say enough about the job Bregman has done with the Tigers this season. He's hitting a ridiculous .442 with eight doubles, three homers and 24 RBIs. He also has been more than serviceable from a defensive standpoint. A+ player.

After a great freshman season, and then subsequently a year and a half of futility, do you see Jacoby Jones (LSU) eventually breaking out of this slump at the plate? Seems like the ONLY good news is that he's already walked more this season than all of last year.

Guest,
Yeah, JaCoby is a really weird specimen. Paul Mainieri and I talked about this a few weeks ago. He's been much more patient at the plate this season, but that hasn't really translated into a much higher average. It's weird to say the least. Personally, I think he'll get it going at some point, but he probably won't be able to increase his average a ton at this point. With that said, he's still a good prospect from the sense that he's a terrific athlete with lots of upside.

Mason Katz is second in the country in HR (13) and leads the country in RBIs (49). Is he your frontrunner for SEC player of the year?

LSU,
He would be right there along with Hunter Renfroe at Mississippi State, and possibly even Mikey Reynolds at A&M. It was huge for the Tigers when Katz returned this season, both from a production and leadership standpoint. Even more so, he's really a table setter for that offense. Meanwhile, Renfroe is a very toolsy player who's having a great year. He has the bat, speed, and versatility to be an elite player at this level and the next level. What's also interesting about him is that he has a big-time arm, too. Some great options in that league for that award right now.

Fitt did bring up a good point about UK throwing Littrell on Sunday. We have to make sure we win the first 2, because I don't like the idea of Glenn/Reynolds/Bonvillian throwing against Littrell.

Sure he ate up the bad teams and has only 1 good outing in 3 SEC starts, but he is very capable of puting together a winning effort vs. a top team. There is a reason he won the job.

But yeah, winning the first 2 definitely helps

Littrell doesn't scare me because we have Katz and Bregman. I just want good pitching so we can sweep their asses.

I find it interesting that for the past 2 years, UK has decided to throw their ace on Sundays. I know Litrell is really good, but does anyone think that he also gets some wins because the other team is throwing their #3?
