For the second time in three weekends, Mason Katz slugged three home runs as LSU easily disposed of Missouri over the weekend. This most recent power surge brings the senior slugger's season home run total up to 13, which is as many as he had all of last season. But the thing that makes Katz so dangerous right now is that he is not just going to the plate looking to pull fastballs over the left field wall. In Saturday's win, Katz went 3-for-5 with 3 RBI and was a double short of the cycle. For the weekend, he went 8-for-14 and knocked in 8 runs, bringing his NCAA-leading RBI total up 49 and his batting average up to .419. However, that's only good for second on the team as freshman-phenom Alex Bregman is hitting an obscene .442. It should also be noted that last year's NCAA hitting leader, Raph Rhymes, is fifth among LSU's everyday starters. He is "slumping" with a .327 clip.

Fitt has stated before that seeing teams in person really help you move up/down. He will be at the lsu/arkansas series. #3 is fine by me, but I still think we are a better team than vandy.
