it's all relative. yes, under most circumstances, you shouldn't. however, if you've got a team sweeping series behind you and another only winning 2/3, the win/loss differential expands each week. for instance, the week before last, vandy went 2-2 on the week and dropped one spot in baseball america, falling to #3. if we had dropped a midweek game to some scrub team like they did and a weekend game to a florida team with a losing record, do you really think we'd have been afforded the same "courtesy"?

Yes. Baseball America has repeatedly said that midweek aren't that important in their rankings, winning series is.

Do you have any basis for this, a particular example perhaps?

Personally, I'm pulling for UNC to stay at #1. Trying to keep us a secret as long as possible. People are starting to figure us out.
