Last year in the Super's, Stony Brook had one good pitcher. That pitcher threw over 220 pitches the Friday and Monday before they played us. Stony Brook saved their best pitcher for Game 2 to give him an extra days rest. Paul Mainieri matched Gausman up with their guy, of which their guy won 3-1 I believe. So basically, our #2, Nola, pitched against Stony Brook's #2.

We just have to win 2 of 3 from here on out and we will be dogpiling, the fact that all 3 of our starting pitchers have sub-3 ERA's through May has me very confident.

it was different thought b/c of a rain delay. Gausman finished the 1st game and then threw the 2nd game. Or am i mis-remembering?

No, that's it. But what the guy said about SB's #1 and only impressive pitcher throwing 220 the weekend before saving him for Saturday was true, which was why CPM threw Gausman.

In retrospect, I think a little overconfidence played into it, but I think for good reason. For what alternate universe would our 1 vs their 1, our 2 vs their 2, and our 3 vs their 3 ever be not enough to win 2 of 3? It just so happened we caught that team at the wrong time. They were clicking as high as any opponent I can remember of late, and their hitting approach 1-9 was as impressive as I've seen with the new bats.

I thought we had it when we stole game 1

crazy how last year we were 1 game away from omaha when we are so much better this year

Yeah, it's still crazy to me how we lost it. I remember walking out after we won the first one and talking about Omaha plans and such. Just sucked. That SB team was really good though.

It's also crazy to think that the entire pitching staff we have right now with this crazy low ERA was on our roster last year plus Gausman (a pure #1) and Goody (a #1 closer). Our pitching was so sick last year. We still outperformed our talent IMO. I think this year we are legitimately better than all the teams we have beaten. The lineup with the exception of whoever we plug into CF is the most complete I've seen thus far (exception maybe Vandy). This ones special.

I think it's brilliant. It gives our ACE a chance to win the series or a chance to make Sunday's game a rubber match

I think Paul Mainieri is going to keep Glenn throwing game 1, hoping for a win, but knowing that LSU will have a decided pitching advantage in games 2 and 3.

This, of course, assumes that Aggy and Ole Miss won't also throw their Sunday starters on Thursday, which I don't think we've confirmed yet.

I could see trusting glenn over eades in the postseason depending on how he and eades pitch the next couple weekends

I'm not overly thrilled about this decision. Their best starter (if he goes thursday which i guess we dont know yet) is pretty head and shoulders above their other two. I understand why PM is doing it and I dont hate the move, but im not really in love with it either.

He already said he's going to try and limit Nola one of these next two starts since he's had 4 complete games.

I think the week off probably did Glenn some good.
Eades got out early against Fla on Sat

Only concern might be weather.
If rain is in forecast for A&M series you would hate for Nola to get pushed back to Sat

I'm interested to see how Glenn does on the road this week. His bad outings all seem to be road SEC games. (Can't find stats). If he's off against A&M it may be a bad sign for him in the SECT and Omaha

If we win one of the next two series we lock up that top 8 seed, regardless of how we perform in the SEC tourney.

No questions that Glenn would go game one of a regional, the question is the SEC tourney and the teams goal, do you throw Glenn in game one of the tourney keeping him on Thursday turns and Nola on Friday, or do you go for the throat and throw Nola, Eades, Glenn and try to win the tourney.

If you have that top 8 locked up, I'm not sure you f around with your rotation, especially when your ace threw AT LEAST 4 complete games in the last 6 weeks.
