Coaching last night
Posted by Bayou on 9/30/12 at 7:52 am20
I know the players are the ones to execute but I will point to a few things which all point to poor Coaching.
1) Flat emotions for the team
2) Still too many penalties
3) Still too many turnovers
4) The biggest one sticking in my craw from last night was the hideous display of tackling. Our D players seemed to refuse to take legs out from under ball carriers. They rely too much on knocks and attempts to strip the ball to create turnovers. Those things come secondary not primary. The worst part is the high tackle attempts. Get the legs so as to stop the runner. Our hight ackling had their runners moving the scrum forward way too much.
This stuff is greatly to fall on the Coaches shoulders. No fundamentals will kill a team.
Based on the way we've played this year so far I see losses at The Swamp, and at home vs. Carolina and Bama. I sure hope I'm wrong though.

Coaches don't fumble or get penalized every week.
Play calls have nothing to do with securing the ball or not moving before the ball is snapped.
You can give some of it to the coaches, but the players have a responsibility to show-up, be excited about the scholarship and what it took to receive it, being a Tiger, and the possibility of winning championships and going to the NFL.

Not so much.

While you are correct on the surface I'm going to say you don't understand the game well enough.

that has been Miles' biggest problem for quite some time along with some game management fiascos.
Our discipline is terrible.

You're not wrong. Unless LSU shows up Saturday and looks completely different from anything we've seen from them so far, we're in trouble. I hope they can flip the switch. I don't see it happening though. Far too many issues

coaches are supposed to teach discipline which prevents penalties.

Coaches can teach it, but the players have to execute it.
Coach Wilson stopped teaching ball-security for the 2012 season?

so all our players have sucked for miles' whole tenure here since we have been horrid at DISCIPLINE during this 7 year span?????????
so you blame all the players? wow. It goes deeper than that after 7 years I'm afraid.

I believe Les is ultimately to blame for the lackluster performances. This is not the NFL where you have to babysit a bunch of high paid personalities; this is college (18-22 yr olds) and Les has full control.

There is no switch this team is what u see not very good. Florida has improved every week against better competition. Get ready for 4 meltdowns cause this team is in trouble.

You can blame the players and the coaches for last night. They took the same approach to Towson that we fans did. Overlooked them completely.
That has to change this week. The next 5 games are all going to require a much better effort than we saw last night. We have seen glimpses of greatness (Washington)and bad (last night) The Auburn game was dominated by us and we let them back in the game. Florida wil require a great effort.

What about the Washington game?

We are back to being a typical Miles team. Playing to the level of the competition. We had some guys on the team that would ride their asses last year and take charge. No more.

there does seem to be something missing with this team
lack of urgency or something. Better find what "it" is or they could be in trouble.
and I am not one to say that...ever

Seriously? You think that's what good coaching ?
Coaching is first about eliminating mistakes and generating proper execution. Right now we look like a rudderless ship

I think this team is infected with a lack of pride and sense of urgency!
